Life in the computer age

(Forwarded from a friend) You know you're living in the computer age when:

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.
2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.
3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.
4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.
5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that
they don't have e-mail addresses.
6. You go home after a long day at work you still answer the phone in a
business manner.
7. You make phone calls from home, you accidentally dial "9" to get an
outside line.
8. You've sat at the same desk for four years and worked for three
different companies.
10. You learn about your redundancy on the 11 o'clock news.
11. Your boss doesn't have the ability to do your job.
12. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if
anyone is home.
13. Every commercial on television has a website at the bottom of the
screen.
14. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the
first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and
you turn around to go and get it.
15. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.
16. You start tilting your head sideways to smile.
17. You're reading this and nodding
18. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this
message.
19. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.
20. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

Woah the end part is freaky.. I didn't notice there wasn't a number 9... then I did scroll up to check! AHH! THE COMPUTERS ARE READING MY MIND!! *runs off shouting*

I don't actually own a cellphone... and I don't work (being only 14) at an office... And no-one e-mails me, so I guess I don't apply to half of the questions...

...and if you have TIVO... (which is a computer after all)...

- you reach for the remote while driving so you can replay something you just heard on the radio

- your tempted to "Tivo back" 8 seconds in routine every day life - if only there was a button to do that. Imagine what that could do for the learing curve in a sport like fencing.

I'd add to the list, when describing my computer life experience:

21. You frequently look up and around to see if Scott Adams has a camera on you.

I noted to a long time client a couple months ago after hearing him finish up a call and ask for the caller's cell number, that the context of that request have changed significantly in the past fifteen years! Unless, of course you just got out of prison, then...maybe not.

22. If you find yourself hitting on girls online
23. If you find that you consider anonymous people online to be your "friends", to the point where they are in direct competition with the ones you can invite to your house
24. If you try to use emoticons in your everyday conversation, then realize that you're actually supposed to make an expression with your face.
25. If you actually hang up on people after telling them to IM you.
26. If you stay up till 12 hoping that someone will respond to your post, and then they do, and then you veiw it and you realize they weren't talking to you.
27. And then you get kinda depressed so you go dig up an old thread and make what you think are clever responses to it, but which tomorrow morning will seem REALLY, REALLY, stupid. And after that, you know you don't have a chance with that girl from # 22.

28. You start becoming more wary of internet strangers than real, live strangers
29. You're IMed to come up for dinner.
30. The last time that you had a real conversation with someone was on the internet, or on the phone.
31. You spend nearly all of your day on the computer, with much of the time spent looking at all of your 'favourite' sites. (and most of the time they're forums)
32. Children would rather Role Play on the internet than pretend to be people in real life for fun. (example, playing Cowboys and Native Americans, or fairies... or house)
33. You learn everything off of the net (*cough* me *cough*)
34. All of your friends are over a thousand miles away, and you haven't seen them in months, and you talk to them nearly everyday.
35. You go into withdrawal whenever you can't get on the internet. Losing the internet is worse than losing heat in winter.
