| Here's an odd one: Sweat? Just for funnsies and curiosity, I'm trying to track down some information about the body's process of perspiration (and what, if anything, it means when a physically fit person sweats very easily and profusely during athletic activity). The Internet has bunches of valuable and worthless resources, natch, but picking through them to get what I'm looking for can be hit-and-miss work. Can anyone here help point me in the right direction? |

| I heard somewhere to a certain extent...
That the more you sweat the better your cooling system is - hence if you sweat a lot that means you are physically fit and etc.
or i could just be pulling that out of my arse...

| A friend of mine who was on the German team and trained at Tauber told me pretty much the same thing Talyn said.
"The better shape you're in, the sooner and more profusely your body sweats because it is anticipating the workout."
Don't know if it's true or not, but it seems to have been born out with me in personal experience. |

| Well I know muscle mass generates more heat in activity, so the more you're employing sports-trained muscles the more your body will need to dump the heat. And training also develops additional blood flow routes as well. So it would make sense that the more fit you are the more you're going to sweat. I suppose. ... I'd like to find some solid medical text to base that "common sense" on, though. Too many stupid ideas are propulgated on common sense alone. |

In addition to your body anticipating the workout, an active body tends to have more active tissue and responds quickly to physiological stimuli such as increased physical exertion.
Hope this sends you down the right path.

| Some people just sweat more than others, though. One fencer in my club has to bring a whole extra set of whites because he sweats through them so quickly in foil that his arm begins registering touches. Others in similar or slightly lesser physical shape sweat a lot less.
