Array Tips Hey! I haven't been fencing very long, and I can always use tips from more experienced fencers. If anyone has any little bits of advice or anything that might help me in the future, please mail me or reply to this. I realize no one wants to give out their 'secrets', so it's up to you if you can tell me anything . Thanks! ENGUARD

make sure you're not tense, keep a loose body.
be aggresive but not stupid. try to set up your attacks and draw out the reactions of your opponents. for instance, if you can catch someone off guard a lot of people do a reactionary parry 4, and follow it up with 6 (this isn't like a rule or anything, just a common bad habit- i know i have it). figure out how to draw out their reactionary parries and beat them.
MOVE ALL THE TIME. this means control the distance, not jump around randomly.
the biggest mistakes I see from beginners is standing still too much and being too tense.
also, if you are going to attack, GO ALL OUT. Unless you have a specific idea in mind, there is no reason not to go balls out when you attack.
do everything with the fingers and hand. try not to use the arm at all.
focus on having good footwork, balance and direction changes. they are the key to fencing. -

Array Tips?
Use Germans, they're smoother and go off more easily. French parts are too annoying. -

Array Here's my tip:
Say what weapon you're doing for the best results in getting advice. Good advice for good epee would sometimes be disasterous in foil or sabre. -
