fencing photographs Hello,
I am a photographer in the Philly/NYC area looking to take some photos of fencers. I was an accomplished saber fencer myself in high school and college, but have not fenced in over 5 years. I am looking to get back into the sport. I have written to a fencing publication who is interested in looking at some of my photos, so for anyone interested in being photographed, please email me at matiscro@hotmail.com. I am looking for men and women (noone under 18 please), of any weapon, who are somewhat accomplished and have good form/footwork. I can't afford to pay you, but I can give you copies of the photos for your personal use. Plus it will be fun for both of us. Samples of my work can be seen at www.romulusandremus.com. You can post any questions on here as well and I will try to answer them for you. -

Array Well, you're in an excellent place, geographically, if accomplish fencers are those who's souls you wish to capture with your shutter
A large portion of the olympians for this year train at the fencers club in new york, and include keeth smar(sabre), ivan lee(sabre), erinn smart(foil), tim morehouse(sabre, team alternate), kamara james(epee) and probably a few I'm forgetting.
Jan viviani(alternate, epee) trains at the new york athletic club(I think). Even if you aren't looking specifically for olympians, you can certainly find elite-level fencers in new york. You might want to contact the fencers club to see if you can arrange a visit.
As for fencing in the philly area...I know it exists, but I'm not quite up on it. I know several people here can inform you better than I.
p.s. again due to your location, you're in the perfect position to re-introduce yourself to the sport personally. I say get to it, you know you'll be glad you did. Array Thanks, Bill!
Website is Fencing Academy of Philadelphia (and there's fencing every night of the week and every Saturday, plus tournaments and training events are held on some Sundays) "Arm yourself, Watson, there is an evil hand afoot ahead." -- Dennis Pierce, 2010 Bulwer-Lytton contest, detective fiction category runner-up.
