1960's national men's teams and pan american team just found this website and am hoping some of you can help me with a search... my father (lawrence anastasi), was the 1961 national foil champion, the 1963 national epee champion, and was on both the 1964 and 1968 olympic fencing teams. i am trying to get in touch with his fellow teammates and fencers to see if they can come to a surprise birthday party. i've already been in touch with jamie melcher (1972/73 epee champion)...do any of you know how to locate others? my father went to temple university in philadelphia and trained out of philadelphia in the late 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. really appreciate your help! all the best, lisa -

Your father and I were Salle Csiszar teammates for 11 years, and I also fenced with your dad from 1963-67 while I was in college at Penn. The University of Pennsylvania Head Fencing Coach Dave Micahnik was also a Salle Csiszar teammate of your dad's, and a member of the 1968 US Olympic Fencing Team. Dave has stayed in touch with many of the folks you are seeking. I'll have Dave get in touch with you! -

Ralph Spinella ('60 mens Foil) lives in Wolcott, CT and still fences in the ocassional tournament in the Connecticut Division. Tom Ciccarone (fencorea (at) aol.com) will know how to get in touch with him.

Chris
