Poll: Married and "blanking" it--women's version

God, if I was at a university, I'd probably have to ask permission before doing this....

    Ladies choice now....

As with the men, please don't answer if you are not of marriageable age... say 18, unless you are from West Virginia...

After 28 years of marriage, asking me what it's like is like asking the fish what water's like.

Ha ha ha, same trite stereotype. I didn't laugh the first time, but this time I nearly crapped my pants... Oh wait, we don't wear any pants here in Wes' Verginny...

I'm a bit bemused by the emphasis someone(s) placed in one of the other threads on 'being married' as the be and and end all of Achieving Ultimate Happiness. (Forgive me, I forget which thread. It's been a long day in Nerdvana.) I never planned on being married, it's not something I aimed for, hoped for, dreamed about. Maybe I'm weird that way. But thanks to quirky fate (blame the Holy Hand Grenade), I am married. Anniversary number 15 will be in December. But the 'oh joy!' part isn't that I'm married. It's that other person running around the house and whacking me across the back of the head with a sabre when I make an ill-advised and poorly-executed lowline attack.

In other words, if he and I were together but weren't married, I'd be just as happy as I am now. All together now: 'Awwwwwwww!' (With the chorus of retching and 'blech!' providing the counterpoint.)

I'm looking forward to getting married. But then again, I'm going to be a virgin until I'm married, so I'm looking at it as a special thing, and very different from just dating.

    Oh, poor, sweet, dear Sarah.
It's just not worth the wait. Go out and find a warrior now, before you are stuck with the piccalo player the rest of your life!

Yeah, but the piccolo player practices blowing the flute, while the warrior just shoots his gun

Hmm... it appears to me that the women on this board aren't as happy as the men. And there's far more innuendo on this thread than the other...

Could it be that they are more concerned about how hard people are tooting each other's horn than on companionship with their significant other?

I would suspect that the real reason is that the women on the board, as a group, tend to be younger and therefore are less likely to have sorted out their love lives. If I had stratified by age, the results would probably be more similar.

Yes, probably. Either that or they don't hold friendship in the same respect as sex-lives. Trust me, not all young women think along these lines.

    [Epidemiologist on]
Stratification by 10 year age groups (the accepted norm), or by some other user defined group? also keep in mind you will have to take into account reponse bias (only those who feel like it have answered the question), age bias (see sabreurs comment), and the fact that this is an isolated sample of fencers who may actually have more in common then fencers in general....
    [/Epidemiologist off]

Ok, I will shut up now and go back to the wonderful world of Nutritional epidemiology.

Waugh! Zelda, have you been indulging in experimental nutritional epidemiology? With a form of mushroom, perhaps?

Ok, I will shut up now and go back to the wonderful world of Nutritional epidemiology.

10-year strata, in this case, would probably be way too big--I'm no pro from Dover on female demographics, but you might want strata based on development:

(Note the numbers below are purely notional--I don't have the faintest what correct grouping of the younger ages would be--I would guess that once you get over 30, five year strata are probably fine...)

    15-17
    18-20
    20-23
    23-25
    25-30
    30-35

    etc....

As for the fact that this is a small, self-selecting sample... well yeah, and it's just for fun too (I hope).

Are you afraid someone would actually believe that 12% of the female, married fencing population was look for a way out of their sacred vows?
