kendoist starting fencing

I've been doing kendo for about 2 years, and due to unfortunate circumstances (going to college where there isn't a kendo dojo) I'm thinking of starting fencing. So this question goes out to those who are experienced or knowledgable in both schools of swordsmanship.

which of the 3 weapons systems would benefit the most from my experience and training with kendo?

right now from what ive read epee appeals to me the most. I prefer the caution and strategic mind-games it utilizes and the target area. saber is way too quick and i haven't formed much of an opinion either way on foil. Its interesting though, as kendo focuses almost completely on offense and epee is the more defensive system. correct me if i'm wrong.

Lastly, to all those that seem to argue forever on the subject, I do NOT want to start a post about fencing vs. kendo. don't get me started on it. they have completely different philosophies and rules, its apples and oranges people.

I would have thought Sabre. Unless Kendo is a very slow point only pick off the oponents wrist while staying purely defensive sport I can't see how epee would be similar. So I would have gone for sabre, aggressive, rules of convention, cutting, blows mostly (in theory) to head.

they're similar because both kendo and epee stress high levels of form and control. much more like kendo, imho, than sabre or foil.

? I must be misunderstanding 'form and control' because epee is the one fencing weapon in which you can have total rubbish form because whatever turns the light on counts.

ugh

yes that is true, that CAN happen. just like you can have rubbish form and make the other person miss to get all the points in sabre and foil.

its not that simple. if you're fencing at a reasonably high level, form is very important. if you have bad form, someone who is competent will likely pick you apart via your obvious weaknesses. the job of epee in high levels is to create holes in your opponent's form, because if you don't, you're going to get nailed.
