Dueling Sabre or cavalry sabre????

Im fairly new to sport sabre fencing and I have run across many remarks that the sport sabre originated from a "dueling sabre" not the cavalry varient. Can anyone tell me where to find information on and pictures of the classical Italian dueling sabre?
Thanx,
Ben
