| Anyone buy stuff from Triplette and... I was wondering if anyone has bought equipment from Triplette Competition Arms that lives somewhere on the west coast, and had it shipped there. I am saving up to buy some things, and was just curious what the shipping cost was. I've tried using this thing on the ups website to estimate shipping, and I couldnt' figure it out, it needed all this technical information. Just an estimate of what you paid is fine, I'm just curious how much I need to put aside. Thanks. |

I'm sure RL wasn't trying to be curt with you, and neither am I, but if you want an accurate number, it'll actually take less time to call them then post on this board. not only that, but if you talk to their customer service, you can get pretty good bead on how nice a company to work with they are.
Plus, shipping costs vary with what you order. If you want a glove, bellpads, wires, and other small stuff, then they'll fit in a small boxd that'll be worlds cheaper to ship than a big blade-size box with some heavy canvas jackets or masks. If you want to know, you'll have to call TCA.
FYI- TCA's site has the following on their front page:
"Call 336-835-7774 Monday-Friday between 9:30am and 9:00pm Eastern time"

| Well, it probably won't be cheap anyway, considering that they require you to also pay insurance on all their items, I believe. Overall, their shipping is slightly expensive IMO, but their also pretty quick with their shipments, so it's a double edged foil, lol. |

| I ordered 3 complete German epee tips without wires and asked them to ship it via the cheapest method. My shipping and handling charges were $11. The USPS envelope showed a freight charge of less than $4, so the handling charge seemed pretty expensive to me. I suggest you ask them specifically what the s/h charge would be before completing your order, unlike me, to prevent surprises. |

| I to have had some really high shipping charges with them on very minor/light items. For example I ordered a glove, pistol grips and some tips from LP. I ordered A glove and three pistol grips and some plastic practice tips from TCA. The LP stuff was cheaper to ship and got here only two days later... from England!

I ordered a body cord direct from them at the total including shipping was only $21--cheaper than a genuine LP body cord is from a us vendor. |

| You're in CA right?
Ever thought about checking out The Fencing Post?
Top of the line equipment, low end equipment, and if you are in Southern Ca, you can actually visit them on a weekend...
Or, if you're in Northern CA, check out American Fencers.
Pricey but, you can skip the shipping cost if you're close enough...

| I hate AMfence these days. Like another user suggested, just order via Fencing Post. Heck, the only reason I ordered from AMfence in the past was because of their unique grips, but because many of them are gone now... |

They have a large storefront, and it's possible to walk in, deal with the surly help, and actually see and try on/out the equipment.
Since I don't know where the individual lives, I posted it.
There are several other locations to buy stuff in So. CA like Purple Fencer's store and The Fencing Dude, but The Fencing Post is cheaper with better equipment...

| All fencing equipment companies charge way to much for shipping. If you want to be really smart about it have them send it to you under your own shipping number or have it shippied collect, not cod, but collect. This means the shipping company will ask you for payment. Whether they will be willing to do this for you is another question but UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc can do this. |

I'll see if I can do that. Another thing I was thinking, I'm planning on buying one of the starter sets from Triplette, and buying an equipment bag. I'm gonna see if they can just ship the starter set in the equipment bag, and just put the bag in a box. I dunno if it will work, but I'm gonna call and talk to them. So hopefully I can save a little on shipping. |

| TCA has always been a fun company to work with I have ordered a fair amount of gear from Triplette over the years. I have always found them courteous, and easy to work with. I have not noticed any gouging on shipping or anything.
I ordered my first starter set from them with a bag years and years ago. They put the whole shebang in one box and shipped it, UPS I think.
Similarly all the other companies I have dealt with thus far have been pretty agreeable.
