Pray for the Sabre jackets!

I am perplexed at how I just can't seem to find a normal, waist-length jacket for fencing sabre. Why are they so hard to find?

Well, generally it's because it's easier for a sabre fencer to use a regular jacket, while a foil/epee fencer cannot use a sabre jacket, and with a sabre lame providing a strap down there anyway, there's really no benefit to having a sabre jacket.

Ach, but aesthetically, in my humble opinion, the classic sabre jacket beats them all... Or doesn't anybody care about looks nowadays?

I might care, but if I can get one jacket that I can also use for foil and epee, I'm buying that... if I had an unlimited budget, I'd probably buy an fie sabre jacket, but I don't--and because not enough people do, most vendors don't carry them.

Allstar carries them: https://www.allstar.de/modules.php?o...ducts_id=58138

Allstar USA doesn't list them, but they probably could get you one.

Santelli makes a really old-fashioned padded cotton twill sabre jacket (I use one for training): http://www.santelli.com/

Triplette also has the old style pattern. They sell it for SCA use. It is very durable and thick duck clothe, but TCA tailoring has always left much to be desired in my experiance. If they have an off the rack size that will fit you it should be just fine.
