Array Men's sabre team Score is now 42-41 for Hungary.... - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
- To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial

Array Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point. -

Array But eventually it will be... right? I'll try to record it, but I have no confidence in my mastery of the program I'm using, so it'd be cool if someone else goes for it also.
What the hell were the Hungarians thinking NOT anchoring with Nemcsik?
I guess that's a dumb question; I know what they were thinking, but I would never have done that. They mustn't've thought the score would be so close.

Array Yeah, but if Nemcsik fenced better than him a couple of days ago, chances are he will still fence better today. I thought maybe they wanted to have him second to last since he gets 2 closely spaced bouts near the end... but that would only make sense if the team was confident enough that they would have some breathing room.
Anyway, the 5-8 placement bouts are underway, and the semis will maybe start soon? http://www.athens2004.com/en/Fencing...?rsc=FEM403200 -

Array US is up on France 40-38 going into the last bout: Keeth and D. Touya.
Italy is up on Russia 30-29 going into the 7th.
EDIT: Now Russia is up 35-34 with the 2 remaining bouts:
Montano - Charikov
EDIT2: Russia maintains 1 point lead going into the last bout (40-39)
Tarantino - Pozdniakov
Still no update on the US/France... probably because they have to write in a winner update.

Array If Italy wins, maybe RAI will cut to fencing... not.
Italy did win. Wow -- a 6-2 run by Tarantino on Poz to make it 45-42.

Array Bad news...it looks like France has won. Check out the discussion group on www.escime-info.com. There still is the possibility of bronze though.
EDIT: This is what I've seen on that website, hopefully the previous post is right! -

Array Ahahaha! They reversed the score on the website. They're fixing it now. So I guess Keeth had the 6-5 victory. Dang... one touch away. -

Array It was a beautiful match, my heart was beating 200bpm. At 44-44, Smart's blade got caught by accident in D Touya's handle and cut his hand badly. After 10 minutes of suspense, Touya came back on the strip, after 2 simultaneous, Smart made an attack with a bent arm and Touya made the touch.
The key to the match is certainly G. Touya. Without him the French wouldn't have been close. He kept the team together. - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

I agree it was a beautiful match.
I've just discovered this american equip and what a good surprise (especially LEE, really interesting ).
I don't know why Smart raised his hand during the last relay, do you ?
there is a real challenge in today's fencing and it is a good thing.
good luck for the third place.
(my apologize for my English, i'm french and our reputation of lack of capacity in other language is a reality) -

Array I'd be willing to overlook that shortcoming if you provide some footage of the sabre bouts.
