Array Mariel on cover of Tribune! Just picked the Chicago Tribune off the doorstep and there she is, winning the gold, right on the cover. Inside, there is a huge two page spread about her and fencing. Amazing...
I'm so glad we have a beginner's class starting in two weeks.
What a day for fencing in Chicago... -

Array Nice! She made the front page of the New York Times as well -
Unconfirmed
Array And yet in my metroplex, the state newspaper didn't even mention fencing (or soccer) gold victories. -

Array LA Daily News, too...below a bigger picture of the men's swimming team. Not on the front of the sports section, but a nice article inside...only one minor inaccuracy (1st fencing gold ever for the US...forgetting the 1904 single-sticks gold.) -

But according to American Fencing Magazine, single-sticks only had American competitors...

It is good it showed up on the NPR report.
The picture on the opening page of Mariel with the gold and Sada looking fondly at her is just so cool!! Both women are really amazing. The picture shows a lot of maturity and good sportsmanship. http://www.fencing101.com/ It is the fencing news page. A friend will bail you out of jail,

Array She made the cover of Stars and Stripes, too, albeit a small one in the lower lefthand corner. There was also about a 4" column story on her in the sports "section".
