Hello, Im new

Hello all,
I'm new. I have loved the concept of fencing for a while. I never really got into it till just recently. I read a lot of places that you have to have a flat stomach to be good at fencing; well I am chubby; i have a kind of big gut. I want to do fencing though; but I really don't know if I can. Its ok with my mom; the only thing with her is stick with it. I will stick with it. I would love to goto fencing competetions after a while too. What do you all think?

P.S. If youd like to talk on msn/yahoo/aim I'm on a lot.

The more you fence, the flatter your stomach will get. Welcome to the sport and the forums!

At the beginner level you may have a slight disadvantage... But.. You will still do fine.. As long as you put in the time to learn how to parry well.. And if you can parry well.. Than it doesn't matter how large the target area is.. kinda.. And fencing may help get rid of it too!!!!

And as long as you are only fencing for fun.. It doesn't even matter!!! As long as you enjoy doing it!!!!!!

don't worry about size, you'll do great as long as you have heart (which should be the biggest IMO).
