Most accurate election description, yet ...

Reading the paper this morning, I found the following description of the dilemma facing U.S. voters. Uncannily accurate, if you ask me ...

"... George W. Bush is a historical disaster of unprecedented magnitude. His reckless band of ideologues dragged America into an unnecessary war. His belligerence has alienated the entire world. Iraq is a hopeless mess. Afghanistan is almost as bad. At home, his tax cuts for the rich will wreck the economy for generations to come. He's against gay rights and choice for women, to say nothing of the environment. He has polarized the United States for years to come. His operatives are thugs, and he's a moron, and he believes he's carrying out God's will.

On the other hand, I figure anybody Michael Moore hates that much can't be all bad.

The trouble isn't George Bush. It's John Kerry. He's the least inspiring presidential candidate since Michael Dukakis. No one will ever line up overnight to see him. If he wrote a book, no one would read it. You can't hate him, because it would be like hating oatmeal ..."

(From http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...Margaret+Wente ... they'll probably make you register or something, though, if you want to read the whole thing.)

That's true, but if you're getting dissed on by the Pope, John DiIulio (ex-head of Bush's own office of faith-based initiatives), Ronald Reagan's family, and even freakin' Bruce Springsteen ... maybe you shouldn't be president.

Kerry's made steps; his DNC speech was actually pretty good, but I'd take a stoic tree-figure (hehe...can I now coin the term Goresque?) over somebody that could be the inspiration for www.bushorchimp.com

Well, one rogue member of the Reagan family. I think Nancy had endorsed Bush.

And I always look to the music community to help determine my vote, don't you?

Someone described the last presidential election (Gore v. Bush) as "two preppies slap-fighting behind the chapel." I think that description unfortunately fits this election as well.

Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point.

Heh ... Bruce is mentioned further down in the article:

"Mr. Springsteen is famous for being the voice of the ordinary American working man. Unfortunately, most of those men are going to vote for Mr. Bush. I wonder what he makes of this. Maybe the ordinary working man is more stupid than he thought. Or maybe he thinks they've been cruelly duped by those liars in Washington. At any rate, he's got an uphill battle. A lot of ordinary working men have been duped into thinking that things are going pretty well."

I'm not sure why I should look to Bruce Springsteen to help me form my political opinions ...

    Ha!!

Well, the pope disses on every american president from time to time. Mostly, because every american president, regardless of political affiliation, personal opinion, constituent opinion, etc. has always allowed death penalties, gone and bombed somebody, somewhere in the world, still won't do anything about the abortion issue, etc. And these things are what's important to the pope. He wants all death, everywhere to end. So whenever the president (any president) does them, the pope gets on his podium and lectures about how that's wrong and the president isn't doing a decent, moral job.

I'm not familiar with John DiIulio...

Reagan's family doesn't mean anything really. It's no different than if my in-law's family suddenly came out in favor or against a candidate... although Reagan's family are probably all pissed because Bush is against additional stem cell research which may or may not help alzheimer's, even though it wouldn't have helped Ron in any case.

Springsteen is also not someone I'm going to take a lot of stock in. Basically, I don't care what any actor/actress, music star, etc. thinks about the election... why?? Because they know almost absolutely NOTHING that I don't about politics! They are just ppl... maybe richer ppl, but ppl all the same. They have opinions... which, because of their money and fame are much easier to broadcast than mine. Does that make their opinions more educated? No. It only makes them louder.

Form your own opinions. Don't be sheep, for crying out loud. Listen to what each person says, take it all with a measure of skepticism and be discerning!!! Use your head, use common sense, for God's sake, use your heart. Then vote however those inner needs direct you.
