I just don't like him. He often crosses the line between tough competitor and being an a$$ on strip. It's petty, I know, but I get a kick out of seeing him lose on the big stage. Like that Team in Sydney.

But yeah, two silvers is better than nothing, and it's more than I got.

Actually, I've already fence Obry and Boisse... and my game style is close to Carillo's one. For me, it always hard to fence a guy using a pistol grip and who have a really fast arm... That's my point (maybe it's not clear...)

    Anyway, we gonna see soon.

But I totally agree. It's mostly unpredictible.

I did not want to be 100% right in my prediction :-)
What fun it would be to post it and have everybody aggree?

However to be precise Carillo was 3rd in Berne this year :-P
I think he can beat Obry, I was not sure about Boisse
because I have not seen him yet. But Carillo seams to me like a fighter
who can beat anybody on a right wave....

You don't like him. It's your right. And I can understand that.

But, to my mind, Rota is really worse... and it's a kind of funny, you quote the team event in Sydney where Obry lost the last touch against, guess who? Rota!

Of all the men's sabre fencers, it looks like Rogers has the best seeding. Of course, if we want any of our fencers to win a medal, they're going to have to beat some of the world's best at some point.

Next time, I will do a double check before speaking!

But I'm still thinking that Obry (and also Boisse) can beat him! Obry seems to me like an incredible fighter...

As I said earlier, we gonna see that soon.

OK, you're right. I should have say that "if every thing goes right for them, all the French guys gonna fight for the same quarter final".

I did not want to underestimate their opponents, at all. Sorry if it was understood like that.

And all that I said about Carillo and the French fencers is only based on some technical considerations about their kind of game. As far as I can have some...

I don't really get along with that many competitors. Especially when my only interaction with them is on the strip. I'm sure I'd have a different opinion if I sat down and had some wine with him.

Well, fiery Italians seem friendlier and than arrogant Frenchmen.

Actually, I see your point about Rota. As for the bout, I mentioned it merely because Obry lost all composure afterwards while Rota had that smug look on his face. The photos and video were priceless.

I agree but Lee would have been in a much better position as the 16th seed the way the draw worked out. I had a feeling this was going to happen to him. IMHO Lukashenko is very vulnerable as the number one seed. Pozdniakov on the other hand is one of the best sabre fencers of all time and is out for blood after what happened in 2000.

In WF: bad draw for Smart. Assuming she wins her 1st round, she walks into a match w/Vezzali!

Gruchala vs. Vezzali will also be in the semis and not the finals. It's set up for a possible Vezzali vs. Trillini final.

OH, I don't think it is as tough a draw that you think -- Seamus is a very difficult opponent -- he has a very unique style -- he beat Paolo Milanoli in Havana 2003, and he gave Jose Luis Abajo great troubles in Havana 2004 (Jose had to do double and triple disengages to get around him -- very excellent and interesting fencing!! very exciting to watch!!!). (I can't even figure out how to beat Seamus!!, and Paolo and Jose are my friends, and none of us can figure this out....)

I would be interesting in seeing his matchup with Kolobkov -- it would be very interesting indeed....

His difficulties that he gives his opponents didn't transfer into our billards game in San Juan -- I was triumphant in that arena <g>
