Array Video clip: Cody Mattern, Epee Cody Mattern is going to the Olympics. Here are the final touches from the Gold Medal match at the 2004 Nationals, where Mattern (right) meets Rosenberg (left, in the awesome shoes). The CSTV production showed an abbreviated version of the bout... these are some of the last few touches, where Mattern widens his lead and wins. 1.1 meg Quicktime movie -

He had a great day - I was hoping he would beat Mattern, but it wasn't to be... -

Array nice work with the clips. I wanna fence like that someday. Maybe someday I can fence him. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

There was some discussion between the announcers about how epee is slowed-down and more relaxed than other weapons. I think it's funny when the announcer (Nabors), says, "There's that tentativeness." Though popular wisdom says that epee is the most audience-accessible weapon, in the CSTV treatment it was the opposite. Foil & Sabre felt "action packed," though CSTV did a great job with all weapons. -

It's funny, the showed so little epee, I couldn't even make a judgement on how it showed up. The women's foil looked great, even though they showed like 5 touches. The saber wasn't that exciting.
Maybe it's just me... We're no threat, people, we're not dirty, we're not mean
We love everybody but we do as we please
When the weather's fine,
We go fishin' or go swimmin' in the sea
We're always happy
