Well, if they invented it, you pioneered it.

Achillis, I don't want to get involved in the above arguement, but you last post was talking about above average women in the sport.

Let me clarify my last post....most Fencing girls are not average. They are less than average. To get average would be ...well.....average. To get above average, would be...well above average.

Maybe it's just where I learned to fence (Thunder Bay) but the pickings were slim for both men, and ....women.

Of course, I was the exception and an above average stallion....

I understand and applaud you for being a more sensible man than I.

Must be, because I just don't see it. Especially when I look at other sports. Such as women's softball, basketball, tennis (think Monica Seles, Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, etc...), and so...

I still don't get this "fencing girls less than average" thing.

Not too long ago, I was at a University "charity ball," and my girlfriend noted how the girls are much less attractive than at similar formal functions when she was in high school. I noted that this wasn't true -- and told her to think of the athletic award banquets that she'd been to. The girls who exercise regularly (through sport, gym or both) are far and away more attractive than those who don't.

As a sport, fencing ends up with a higher-than-average number of attractive women.

I'll concede to ReverseLunge that volleyball players (and several other sports) are probably generally more attractive -- fencing is assymetric, and symmetry is attractive. But, in comparison to the general population, there will be more attractive fencers than the average.

I think your experience in Thunder Bay has left you a bit skewed. I don't know exactly what the Kitchener club looks like yet, but once you start going to competitions around Southern Ontario, I think you'll find yourself having to review your position, civiltech.

And it's a bit of a stretch, but I can name one person who COULD be one Hell of a fencer if she ever decided to take it up...and she's one of the most physically beautiful women I've ever met.

I gave her a foil lesson in November of last year. Big parries (like beginners do), but all of her ripostes were spot on with confidence you don't see from the noobs. She was in a wheelchair from a 1995 auto crash (t9, t11 spinal fractures), but if she ever went for it, she'd do very well.

Her name? Sharry Konopski. Her claim to fame. Playboy Playmate, August 1987.

You're either an idiot, or have a skewed sense of attractiveness. Otherwise, you're just trolling.

Perhaps if you stop looking in the mirror, you'd see that not all fencers are butt-ugly, but (hehehe, I said but) are probably well within the norm (the bell-shaped curve that goes from ReverseLunge-ugly to Attractive).

Oops, I've replied. You've swept me into "your game" with a masterful psychological trick.

hmm...maybe some of you should look in the mirror, as in my experience, there are far more pretty fencing girls than cute fencing guys. At least at my club, many of the girls are quite pretty, while I can only name one or two guys who I consider "hot."

He's trolling. Pretending to a 'Nam vet and all.

Although, I'm disappointed you left out Flessel Colovic. And that really awesome pic of Gruchala wearing her fencing jacket without a shirt on. That one's great.

    Interesting...

Keeth Smart was listed as one of People's top 50 bachelors...

Laurie Shong (CAN) 2000 Olympic team member, and world champion paid the bills by modeling.

And most girls I know go weak at the knees when discussing or talking with at least one (if not 3) of the people in the photo located here.

Just scroll down to the photo of the Olympians and their coaches...

hmm...that's in L.A, so the exception proves the rule.
