That Guy
Array I debated on whether to call the action in the picture an Attack on Preparation or a Counter-Attack. I finally decided on Counter-Attack only because the fencer on the right is already in their lunge. (I also decided on Counter-Attack because I was sure that it would bring up a discussion on if this was, or was not, AonP.)
If I had a video clip of the entire action, I may call it differently. As a referee I would be more inclined to call it Attack on Prep due to the fact that the German fencer has hit and also has time (an extra tempo) to make a parry.
Thinking it through, I guess I would, in fact, call it an Attack on Prep since the fencer on the left has an extra tempo to work with.
Just goes to show that it's hard to call something without seeing the entire action...

The first picture actually looks more like he's winding up for a flick rather than attempting to parry. Why would anyone need to parry a counterattack in foil, anyway? "Computers in the future may have only 1, 000 vacuum tubes and perhaps only weigh 1 1/2 tons."

I think the fencers are (left) Ralf Bissdorf (Germany) and (right) Loic Attely (France) in the team final. Great Chieftain o' the Pudding Race -

Array you must be kidding me, get a grip, what are you an ego tripper, take a rest, get off yourself, you must be high, you're writing 'quite' now, he's gone quite, quite, quite, what would make you make any kind of statement about a persons fencing that you have never met before, doozie botts, funghoul, besse mai coolie. -

Array winding up, is not a very good idea, it seems to provide momentum, but because the arm is drawn way back it takes more time than you think, and then, the director gets offended and the opponent touches in time.
