Hi!

A good argument for a drastic simplification of the tax code.

OTOH, if the lawmakers would make the tax code simple for taxpayers with only a wage to report - while much more complex for companies - an interesting thing could happen.

If done enough, it would be so bewildering to even companies so that they could not find the loopholes, and thus would pay substantially more. See to it that the tax code also changes a lot from year to year, and they can´t get used to it! Furthermore, if congress would vote on each year´s tax code a few days before IRS return day, the tax lawyers would simply not have time to file an optimal tax return, and companies would end up paying more than now.

Sort of when the "Survivor" participants (at least the Swedish, dunno about USA ones) are subjected to hitherto unknown rules at every turn, so that they can not plan ahead too much.

Not that I think that it will ever be like that though, and I understand that there are many drawbacks with the suggestion above. Bear with me, I often like to be the ´s advocate.

They already do this, problem is THE GOVERNMENT can't keep up with the changes (and revisions, and case decisions, and...)

Guaranteed to be struck down (and with good cause IMO). Plus companies would simply file an amended return. Never underestimate the power of greed
