Hi

Hey everybody, I'm new to these forums obviously. I have been fencing (Foil) for about 2 years and have just started looking for my first good competion foil (it's why i found this forum). Unfortunatley I haven't ever even been to a competiton because of timing issues and just generally not knowing about many. I live in the chicago land area and am looking into joining the Chicago Athletics Fencing club. So... hello, if anybody has any suggestions of good foil setups (electric or non) Im all ears.

Welcome! I'm a sabre fencer so can't offer any advice, but I'm sure someone here will be glad to. This is a nice forum. Hope you stick around.

Foil...fun...what an odd combination of words!

( Just kidding. I also fence sabre, and there's a tradition of gentle badinage between the proponents of the three weapons here. )

Welcome---and I love your screen name, BTW. Assuming it's descriptive of you you ought to fit right in hereabouts!

Welcome to the board! Are you joining Chicago Athletic Association, or Chicago Fencing Club? Either way welcome. Depending on where you live, come by Illinois Fencers Club sometime. We are in Mt. Prospect.

Yeah, I know my instructure told me about it and said I shoud join. The Chicago Fencing club is part of the CAA as I understand it (*edit*nope, my bad CAAFC and CFC= Diferent clubs sry). But yeah it is a really nice club. The only problem is the money, but I think I can afford it if I work enough.

@dave
Mt. Prospect aye. I go up there every once in a while. I'll be sure to check you guys out. I would probably join but Transportation is a problem, the CFC is right by the trainstation downtown so Thats how Im going to end up going there, if I end up joining. But I'd like to stop by if Im up there, were are you guys specificaly?

We are at Lions Park. We meet Mondays at 6:30 and Thursdays at 7:30. There is a Metra train station about 4 blocks away, so it is pretty easy to get here from downtown if you do not have a car.

Here's our website with info on it. http://totheescrime.org/ifc/
