    New York - Manhattan

Okay this appears off topic, but since I am going there to fence....

What is the weather like there this time of year? (Need to know whether to pack shorts and little tops or troussers and slightly bigger tops).

Can anyone recommend any restaurants to eat in the Time Square area. I was thinking of steaks (on get to eat decent ones when I am in the US - I am British), Seafood (ditto as with steaks :-( ), Teppanyaki, Italian, Chinese.... Want a few decent meals over the weekend. Am travelling in a group of 10 (if that makes any difference).

I'm not now living in New York, but I would pretty much guarantee that it will be hot and humid. Wear as little as possible.

As for restaurants, I was listening to Howard Stern last Friday and a caller called in to ask about restaurants in NY that Howard would recommend. Four Seasons was one, Nobu is a good japanese place, if you can get in. New York is so full of good restaurants that you can't miss by just walking into any of them. Also, you needn't worry about restricting yourself to just Time Square area. The public transportation (including taxis) is quite good in NY, compared to many other metropolitan cities in America.

Best bet, for fun time is SoHo area near NYU (New York University). Tribeca area is also good.

Never met him before in my life (officer)...

Thanks for your advice and suggestions: shorts and small tops it is then. I look forward to some good food and will check some of those out: Nobu sounds particularly interesting (love Japanese and there isn't much in the UK outside of London)...

For steaks, try Sparks, Palm or Peter Lugers (in Brooklyn).

Very hot and humid(today was a nice change, though).

Please wear shorts and go to Stage Deli...if you want to be tagged a tourist. Don't foget your camera!

Seriously though, Lugers is great..best steak you'll ever eat and the beer is so cold, its like syrup(being a Brit, you might not like that...but you wont need the shorts).

    6th street(bt 2nd and 3rd) is a great place for indian food.

And of course the Worlds Cup womens foil...June 14-16th.
