Array Why do you support ANYONE? Seriously, after reading all of the political threads from the past three weeks I was gone, I'm starting to wonder if people really don't see that their arguements are exact mirrors of eachothers with a few different buzzwords in. I am getting incredibly curious as to why people actually BUY any of this crap that gets blasted over the news. I'm only 15, and I'm really beginning to see why over 50% of the voting age population doesn't. What I guess I'm asking for: Does anyone here actually have a good reason to support either presidential candidate? -

Array A very good question.
A girl asked me earlier this evening how I can serve Bush. My response was that I do not serve Bush, even if he is my commander. I follow his orders, but I serve people - the American people, and any others we are protecting. I cannot wait until I can actually begin actively serving. -

Array Fair enough, but don't you worry that politicians might be using your safety and your life for their own gain? I honestly believe that anyone who would desire to be president would do anything to keep the job or take it from another (With a few historical exceptions). You serve the people, but the people don't always have a direct say in the way things are run. I imagine that if they did make decisions purely of their own accord, we would not be involved in many of the conflicts of the past half century, which is why I have severe reservations about supporting or trusting either presidential candidate. Also, even though the people are highly supportive of our troops, neither candidate has attented a funeral for a soldier (AFAIK), which just offers more proof to me that politicans will game with whatever they can.
(Disclaimer: Up until sometime in June I still held out hope for Bush, but in light of some things he flip flopped on after the Reagan Funeral and his obvious refusal to admit any mistakes he might have made) -

Technically, that should be any presidential candidate, although I have to admit I'm hard pressed to see how anybody can have full faith in and support for any of the candidates. I think they all have glaring problems (well, all the ones I know of - Bush, Kerry, Nader, Cobb). I can see why one person would favor one over another, or why one would intensely dislike another, but to go so far as to support any of these guys strikes me as a bit... well, extreme. Maybe it just strikes me as this election year is like drinking the dregs of boxed wine, but can't we have at least one intelligent, principled, pragmatic candidate, on any ticket? Hmm, I guess that's a reason why I don't support anyone, but I will hold my nose and vote, even though being from New York it counts for just about nil (if Kerry loses New York he might as well become a squeegee man on a street corner). -

Array While a like bush a hair more than kerry, they all seem like a bunch of douche bags, and we need better choices... two we got just aint cuttin it. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Array However, the fact remains that one of them will be president.
Choose the lesser of two evils if presented with an option that does not appeal to you. -

Lol I'm sorry but I have to say that D+F+P=H! has to be the funniest poster on the board; every post of his seems to sound exactly like the above one to me. Thank you Hadouken.

Choose the lesser of two evils if presented with an option that does not appeal to you. Exactly ... as Rick Mercer reminded Canadians during our election: "When it comes to choosing the lesser of two evils, choose the candidate who is LESS EVIL! Otherwise you get the most evil government in power and if you didn't vote, that makes you pro-evil!" -
Well, I just made a new thread exactly like this, so I'm relocating my arguments to here.
I don't like Bush for several reasons. He can't speak in public, and I don't like his economic or educational policies. Overall, he's republican, and well, I'm not.
I don't like Kerry also for several reasons. Kerry has been extremely vague about his platform, choosing to shout out Bush-style obnoxious sound bytes (or bites) such as "America can do better!" This may be premature, but his policy on terrorism seems to be a little bit shaky as well, because I don't know what it is. But he sure thinks Bush's is wrong!
Also, John's running mate, John, is a malpractice attorney, which I don't support at all. To become successful as that type of attorney, you must lie and cheat the system, ruining someone else's life, and the entire medical profession in general, so you can make millions. And run for vice president.
On Fresh Air , Colin Quin said something like, "Everybody in America is really down on fascism, because you only have one candidate to vote for. Here we have two." -
One more thing:
Is this the best we can do? Out of 300 million people? Seriously! Our government has trouble with simple things, like not spending more money than they acutally have.
As I like to say, it's a sad thing when the 500 best and brightest in our country can't blance their checkbook.
And the candidates for president are even worse! What happened to Theodore Roosevelt? (sp?) He got SHOT while he was speaking, and yet kept going for another hour before he was driven to the hospital. THAT'S who should represent our country. That guy was #$%^ing awesome! Similar Threads -
