    Saber lame washable Vs non-washable

    Hi
I'm thinking of buying PBT saber lame they have washable 200 and non washable 135

Any reason to buy washable? How often I would need to wash one?

I've never fenced electric saber before. Any suggestion on different brand lames?

    Thank you,
    Asgaroth

There are other threads on the subject here that you can search for more information, but usually it comes down to the non-washable lamés will oxidize much more easily. You're probably better off getting the higher priced lamé. It may be a little more expensive, but you should worry about it less. You might also want to consider an uhlmann/allstar. With a lamé, you really do get what you pay for (unless, of course, you buy from a terrible, overpriced vendor).

Depends. How much do you sweat?

As I've stated before, there's really no such thing as a non-washable lame. "Non-washable" usually means copper, and copper lames actually should be washed more frequently than stainless ones to get rid of the sweat salts that will accelerate corrosion. Just gently hand wash in a sink or plastic tub with a mild soap like Ivory Snow or Woolite and a bit of ammonia, then rinse off and let it hang-dry. Just how often you need to wash it depends on how frequently you use it and how acidic your sweat is, but at least monthly will make a big difference for most people.

I have read several Threads. Simply I'm a newbie in electric fencing. From my own experience PBT good fencing supplier (sabers are very good).

I haven't had much experience with Pbt but they are supposed to be pretty good. For good-deal vendors, I'd suggest the fencing post (www.thefencingpost.com) with their 20% web discount, and also blue gauntlet (www.blue-gauntlet.com).
