Array Club membership dues, fees and lesson fees. Our fencing club is experiencing ever increasing growth and wide spread interest in fencing. We are rewriting our club charter and bylaws, and are also applying for 501-C-3 non-profit status. Now, we are debating the critical question of dues, membership fees, and lesson fees. In the past, this club not been diligent in keeping accurate attendance records, or in collecting dues. Obviously this can't continue.
How do other clubs handle membership dues, attendance records, and lesson fees for fencers other than beginners? -

Array At my old club, they charged a monthly fee, or a (slightly) reduced yearly fee. I think the membership year coincided with the USFA year. Lessons were tracked with a daily sign-up sheet on the wall. All lessons were pre-scheduled, so if you didn't call and cancel, you still got charged.
To make it convenient, it was all charged to my credit card monthly, so I didn't have to remember to write a check every month.
No attendence was checked, except for lessons. If you wanted to pay for the month and fence every day, or not show up at all, it was your choice.
