    Batman Begins

The Batman franchise has been restarted, a new film will be released in Summer 2005 titled "Batman Begins". The story follows the early Batman and is somewhat loosely based upon (or at least sharing the same themes of) Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One" Graphic Novel. The film stars:

Batman / Bruce Wayne: Christian Bale (American Psycho, Reign of Fire)
Alfred Pennyworth: Michael Caine (Cider House Rules, Mr. Destiny)
Lucias Fox: Morgan Freeman (Shawshank Redemption, Seven)
Ra's Al Ghul: Ken Watanabe (The Last Samuri)
Dr. Johnathan Crane/The Scarecrow: Cillian Murphy (Cold Mountain)
Sgt. James Gordon: Gary Oldman (Dracula, The 5th Element)
Ducard: Liam Neeson (Rob Roy, Episode 1)
Rachel Dodson: Kaite Holmes (Dawson's Creek)

A Complete Cast list can be found at :

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000323/

And the trailer, pics and misc. can be found on the official site:

    http://www.batmanbegins.com

*Note: This film has nothing to do with the previous franchise and is a brand new beginning. No more Batman and Robin crappiness thank god.

I know this is terribly frivolous, but i'm looking forward to this movie mainly because of Christian Bale. Did you see him in American Psycho? wow...it's nice

    and him in the batsuit...wow!

Yeah, American Psycho was an interesting flick. Bale's a good actor and should bring a lot of "darkness" to the role. If the movie is anything like the tone of the trailer, I'll be more than pleased.

Thank god the bat nipples are gone!

Looks intriguing, especially if they follow Frank Miller's story. However, they seem to be using a mix and using Year 2 and other sources.

Although to be honest, I'm more interested in Frank Miller's Sin City up coming movie...

I can't wait! The worst thing to happen to the Batman franchise was to let Tim Burton get away from it. Can you imagine the Scarecrow in a Tim Burton Batman movie? That would have been great. As it is, they've a good director [Chris Nolan] and writer [Dave Goyer] on board . I'm really looking forward to it.

The first Batman was by far the best. Intersestingly enough, I just saw it last night. Anyway, Michael Keaton was great in that movie. I haven't seen the 2nd one in a long time. I just remember seeing the end. That one was violent. Then Forever went off and it became all cartoony and weird. As opposed to sadistic and weird. And then the Clooney one, which was basically for the kids, I think.

    Aren't they all?

I think I've only seen a part of the one with the joker in it... oh wait that won't help! I really don't know what it's called.

It's crazy! Spiderman came out, and now there's daredevil, catwoman, the incredible hulk, and loads of other ones! When're they going to do superman: Man o' steel?

I was never that keen on batman beyond - although I liked the movie/episode that was the bridge between Batman the Animated Series and BB. But they could do another BTAS movie and I'd go see it ten times. Or twenty.

I'm so very excited by the stills and trailer for the new one. I've been following stories about it for at least three years now. See stills is terribly exciting after that much wait!

It will have to be done gritty, no matrix effects, and with an atmophere that is chilling... like gotham. I also wouldnt mind a punisher movie done right, the last one sucked. They should have had Ron livingston acting as the punisher, and it shouldnt have been so silly. It should be done with decent, but not mainstream film actors. It was all bullcrap.

    Superman is coming.

They recently settled on a director that will supposedly stick this time.

They hired Bryan Singer and his team, he did X-men, X2, and the Usual Suspects.

He was slated for X3, but Superman will conflict, and X3 is now looking for a new director...

That's bull. They should have left him on for x-3. I'd much rather see that than superwad.

I know. All the comic book movies today are about special affects and that about it. This one need to be just creepy and dark as hell. Then it'd be great. Kind of like the first Batman movie. Just dark, creepy, kind of satanic, it'd be great. And real fight seens, no computer generated fights where the do way too many unrealalistic, inhuman flips and stuff. Just a bunch of guy punching each other.

Also, I agree. Begone with the Bat Nipples!!! YAY!

whats with the dark and creepy stuff??? why's that necessary??? how about a plot that makes sense with villains that know how to portray their actual character this time.

Well, of course. Everyone want's that. It's just, the last few Batman movies have been way too cartoon-like, and Batman is supposed to be dark and creepy. Even the comic books. That's why everyone wants it.
