Xseed & Engarde fans: Help out FRED??

Hi there all you Xseed & Engarde users-

I'm the developer of askfred.net (a.k.a. "FRED"), and in response to requests, i am trying to make FRED work with Xseed & Engarde.

My problem: the documentation for both programs say that there are files that you can import with registration in them, but do not give samples or specs for these files. for Xseed there are 2 files, one with fencers, and another with their entries into events, which I believe are comma delimited text. For Engarde, apparently there is one XML file.

My request: Does anyone have example registration input files for either of these programs that I could use in my attempts to make FRED play nice with them? Preferably with as many as possible of the 'options' in them, like different kinds of events (age, rating, gender, team, etc.)?

    I'd be very much indebted...

    TIA,

    -peet

Peet, here are a few files from this past year's junior sectionals. Each file corresponds to one event and you load the file through engarde's fencers screen.

Please feel free to bug me if you need any more info.

I haven't mucked around with the stuff, but Adam Blake hosts the page
    Adam's EnGuard House of Fun
which might be of use to you. If not, Adam is still a good resource and I think his email is linked off of that page (if not, PM me and I'll pass it along).

    Ah, this is very helpful!

It seems Engarde intends to let you configure what data goes in & out, and what happens to it in the program. very cool (if i'm understanding it correctly! the some of the translations are a little ragged ).

That would be very helpful in integrating FRED w/ it.

I'll have to see if Adam is interested in giving me any advice about this. He seems to have wrestled with some of the same issues i'll face.

    Thanks again!

    Xceed & Engarde

    Peet,

One of my Club's members is working with one of our local FOC/High Calibre Refs to work out some of the bugs in the Xceed program. If you would like to get in touch with him...he's some type of software engineer & as the Veep of the firm he's at...also has a huge staff at his disposal to also assist when he hits a wall...I can get you through to him.

contact me direct @: maestro@marinfencing.com and I'll get you his number & e-mail address so you guys can comiserate.

Personally, although my Club has only used the program once, we had a good time with it and after preparing ourselves for the upcoming tournament by running 3 mock-events, we were pretty much ready for anything that arrived...which they did...but nothing that couldn't be dealt with in a timely manner.

    SInceremente,

    Mischerma
