Should Cheney be dropped from Republican ticket?

Should he stay or should he go now? (Apologies to The Clash)

This has been a hot topic recently: Cheney has attracted a lot of bad press ever since the first campaign, and he's extremely ill (4 heart attacks, a defrib mounted in his chest, and the doctor who certified him as "okay to serve" just got dropped since he has a substance abuse problem!), and there's rumors that he will go, or should go - mostly from the Republican side (the Democrats want him to stay since he's a lightning rod that helps their efforts).

I don't care one way or another: I think he's a corrupt, chicken hawk, greedhead who reminds me of Doctor Evil, and is willing to cut his lesbian daughter's rights to toe the party line. I won't vote Republican whether he's on the ticket or not. But that's just me. What do you think?

    Very condign, actually---because

    If he goes there will be trouble;
If he stays it will be double.

I think any number of other choices would serve the President better electorally. But dumping him would be a display of disloyalty, which might prove itself harmful. Best would be to arrange for him to withdraw of his own accord, but that seems unlikely to happen...

Hah! I hadn't thought of the other lyrics - thanks, Inq! (I would have said "apt" rather than "condign", but now I've learned a new word )

The political fallout would be tricky. One rumor is that Cheney's medical condition (and the removal of his doctor) would give the cover to let him retire from the field without looking like he was fired.

They do say it's bad to hold back your feelings, huh?

The Rerublicans (heheh, what am I, Scooby Doo?) should be less worried about Cheney falling from office and more worried about Cheney falling from a vicious heart attack.

    As an added bonus:

Once Cheney is indicted in France for bribery charges will this help or hurt his chances to be indicted....oops I mean elected in the U.S.?

If he wants to retire. There's the rub. I mean, anyone who is assigned to a committee to choose the VP candidate and chooses himself---how likely is he to let voluntarily?

I think that the proper replacement---let us say McCain, despite my misgivings about him---would probably sink Kerry for aye. But Bush and Co. probably feel that they can do that without going that far. ( I am not convinced that they're right. )

Now, if Bush really wanted to set the Dems hopping in rage, he'd name Al Gore to his ticket.

Hah - that's lead ballast that would sink him or *any* ticket! A little magic marker to change "Bush vs. Gore" from 2000 to "Bush and Gore"...

Dick Cheney is horrible!!!! I pretty much agree with Jeff's summing up of him in the first post. If I was Bush, I would get Cheney to resign, then get his whole cabinet to resign, then resign. They all need to be out!!!

I never knew he had a lesbian daughter. Let the lesbians stay, theyre hot, but let the gay guys leave the country and start their own little gay nation. I'm in favor of giving gay people their own island, where they are deported to. They wont be made fun of, they wont be lynched, and they wont procreate. But only the gay dudes. Let the gay girls stay here, I'm okay with that. I guess cheney is eating one too many pork rind and cream pancakes, he needs to get into decent health if he wants to keep my grudging respect.

you've got it all wrong man. . . You need the gay guys to stay here, because they'll give you a better chance of getting a girlfriend. . . More lesbians means less girls for you to date, so you should re-think your strategy!!!

Explain... more gays equals more girls for me to date? If a girl is a lesbian than shes lesb, simple as that, them being here doesnt effect my chances with girls.

    Arolnd???????

I had a stroke when I was small and also have a small heart murmur, it shouldn't keep me out of office though. Looking back at another candidate who was booed out of the arena, about 20 years ago, a democrate was hounded out of the primaries because he had suffered from depression. I thought it was a minor issue, and he was very good, a former Peace Corps Volunteer but the hawks won.....and further the rut we seem to be in now. While I also served as a Volunteer, it was considered unpopular and sort of 'butting' into other people's business, but on the other hand, people who wanted globalization, one-world concept, thought it was good.

My next question in what happened to ARNOLD? Should he be TERMINATED?
