So, that makes it perfectly allright to invent your own conclusions based on personal hatred---and invariably to assume the worst of the available possibilities must be the correct one. Yes, that's intellectual honesty for you...

Somehow, these things always seem to come out in the end, one way or another, despite the most energetic attempts to keep them concealed. From Nixon to Reagan to Clinton, scandal will always out. But why wait when you can leap to conclusions which will further one's political goal instead? Why bother with fact when innuendo is so much more fun?

Sometimes a calumny is progressed in order to incite a party to release more facts to support their initial position.
Aw, isn't that cute? Now you're claiming a noble motivation behind your animadversions--is that it?

This hasn't proven to be the case. Instead of supplying the requested information, they uniformly deny having made statements that are on audio, video, and written record.
Oh, you mean the way Tereza Kerry denied saying "un-American" in a speech that she had only just finished making? Yeah, that could never happen unless there were some despicable intent behind it...

Mind you, this does not mean that you aren't right about Bush and Co. It only means that unless you are blessed with the ability to read minds and hearts
( and let's face it, what liberal isn't? ) you cannot make the judgement in the absence of fact. Not with any pretense to intellectual fairness.

Well, having some fumifius in the recta faciem has potential in the right social setting, but in the "Should Cheney be dropped from Republican Ticket" thread, there's a good possiblity that the last thing you'll want is some fumificus Cheney recta in your faciem.

I'd be willing to offer up to calcitro adsertor chaos posterum if it moved further the cause and intent.

Considering that Roman "boots" were open-toed, you might want to reconsider that....
