Errm...Some questions

Well, I've read all the threads that have been deemed important to me (ie. from zelda and/or stickied threads) and I still am confused. I do not see ANY threads with chars like..with a template I can "borrow" to use for my own, and as well, since this is on the fencing board and from what I've seen almost EVERYONE I can find is using some sort of rapier, now is that well..required? As well what about geography, how do I find out about places, town, maps, etc. Because if it's a made up world which I am almost certain(ie. fantasy land) then...how are new people supposed to find all this stuff?'


Sorry if I sounded rude or anything just I'm pretty stumped as to what I am going to do, and I REALLY want to get started on here lol.

As for the characters, each writer who joins makes his or her own character or two. Basically, that character is theirs and they are in charge of it. As you've probably seen, other writers can use characters that don't belong to them in their posts, they just have to use them along what appear to be the guidlines of the chara's writer (for example if someone writes their character as being a fluffy bunny, you can't turn them into a cruel and heartless person.) If you have a plot like idea that you want to use in the story line and it involves someone else's character but you're not sure if they're alright with it, then ask them about it. Send them a pm with your general idea or something of the sort and get their permission. (If I've missed anything, someone fill in the gaps or correct me (I'm still half alseep))

So basically, you create your own character and develope them.

Weapon type is not required. Your character can be against weapons for all it matters or carry a wooden spoon. However, you probably wouldn't want your chara to carry a pair of .40's and a long rifle around, considering the setting.

There really is no set map or geographical thing. (Swords, you're better at this one that I am so if you or someone else who's more comfy with it, go for it.) Just try to keep it the same as what it seems to have been set (i.e. if someone says it's a 5 mile walk to a certain house, you can't get there in 5 minutes while it takes then an hour, stuff like that.)
We really should make some sort of map or written statement as to what is where kids.

You can make a new story line ourside of the general Arconian line (example we've got the Real world and the New world, two different lines.) Just start a new thread and set some basics.

Erm I think that covers everything, read the posting guidlines and such, respect fellow writers, all that. Erm if you haven't yet, it might be helpfull to read up on the few character histories that are up just to get a feel for things. If you're confused about something in a thread or post or about another person's chara then please feel free to ask! We're always glad to have new writers!

Thanks, uhm...A few things, like you said there is no set map, etc. But I hear a lot about this "Arconia" and well, how am I supposed to learn about it since it seems a mjority of people are there, and which threads are stories that other players can get into? (i'll have more, but btw that thing about the guns made me laugh so hard, I have no idea but just the thought of it made me laugh)

Arconia is our main story. You can jump in anywhere you want! Just make sure it's in a recent thread. You've probably noticed that for example the Of Dragons and War threads are in order (1,2,3,4, etc) so the highest number is the most recent (I don't even know what number we're at, it's the top one ) Right now the majority of the group is out hunting Dragons, and a few others are back in the city. So for example your chara could be traveling somewhere and come across the dragon group and join that way. Heck you could try to attack them (just make it known that you don't want your chara dead cuz some of ours are having what appear to be mid life crisis' ) Or, you could have your chara living in Arconia all their lives and are just now coming out into the open, wanting something different with their life, things like that. Be creative, just don't make it so far out there that we can't throw you a life preserver and get you back in.

You learn about Arconia just like you're doing basically (do we have a little thread explaining things anymore?) You read the current threads and some older ones if you feel it's needed and you ask a lot of quiestions. However, I believe the best way is to just get your feet wet and start. We'll help you along the way if you find you can't yet swim.

As the royal scribe, welcome! What, specifically, would you like to know about Arconia? Characters already involved? Our history (summed up)? Future plans? I know most of the story like the back of my hand.

Someone was supposed to make a map at one point, but that was scrapped, I think. Okay, so here's a rough view: Arconia, ruled by King Arcon & Queen Zelda, is in the middle of the continent, apparently. To the east is Muu, ruled by King Meekal & Queen Buffy. There is a large wooded area that separates the two kingdoms. The kingdom of Schoolcraftia is above Arconia, with a wooded area also separating the two kingdoms (per the princess & Willow running through the forest to escape to Arconia). Marsteria is around there somewhere. Not sure. There are others, but those seem to be the major kingdoms.

Uh . . erm . . . that would be erm . . . .yeah I don't think it has a name. It's just Arconia as a whole and they live in the main city . . . unless it has a name that I was never informed of.

HAAHAHA, that's the funniest thing I've read all day, so *cough* what do I put in my char's bio then? I want him in Arconia but i can't just say "he lives in the capital of Arconia"

BTW I haven't done creative writing in quite some time so I am quite anxious to get into this.

I am OFFICIALLY confused. I started reading "Of Dragon and WAr ***" Don't remember which number lol, and it's the latest one, but I can't tell who is where. Some poeple seem to be in a town, some in the forest, some, well...in a completly different place, so I'm kind of lost as to what to do.

Nækos, Rosaline, Rylus, Darion, Meekal, Talmour, and Zelda (did I miss anyone?) Are all standing around in the burnt up town.

Moon, Ken-Dall, and their two guards (and one of the guards hubby) are all back at the castle.

The gypsies (Crin, Falcour, Ami) were going back to the castle.

Senyik rode up to the next town I believe to tell them that there are two survivors that need to be tended to.

Tæbryn rode back to the castle with Moon and her enterauge (sp).

I have a suggestion, I don't know if it's possible, because I haven't checked it out yet, but why not have everyone in a certain group use a certain color of text? So it organizes everythign in one spot by one color.

Thorn, you can either start posting in odaw (of dragons and war) and get your character started traveling or something of that sort. We have to wait for a few people to get a little more time to write. I believe Swords is out of town right now, Moon's rather busy, and so is Zelda. We go through a lot of writing tons all at once and then waiting, and the repeat.

Uh...decent idea, but...no.

Keeping it all the same color has worked just fine for four years. Book 1 has already been written, but needs to be rewritten. If you have any questions about people's locations, you can simply ask. I can guarantee 100% that between the Plot Nazi & I (or others), we can tell you where people are at any given point. Some of us have several characters going, & remembering a color code would just make more work for us.

I like black too much. And that's Swords' colour, so I'm nada'ing the color code idea. We have usernames for a purpose.
