| New Season So, with the "new" fencing season upon us, what goals has everyone set for themselves this year concerning their fencing?

| Make enough money to go to the NACs. A little more likely now that one of my friends has his B so we can travel together.

| Maximize my fencing dollar -- find the best bang/buck competitions possible, and do well at them.
Currently, I'm looking at PDT, Duel in the Desert, and Candian Elite Circuits as comps that are more likely to provide tough foil bouts (I need to fence against more B-and-over rated guys) for reasonable cost.
Div 1s are too expensive, and the 40% elimination doesn't make it worth my while until I'm fencing at a level where the 2nd round of pools is assured.
It's unfortunate that the quality of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Circuit has declined; but Penn State Open and Five College Open look like good choices within a day's drive of Western NY.
What about the Big Apple Open? Do solid foilists show up? Anybody else have any suggestions?

| My goal is to actually learn to fence . . . one of these days. Last year's goal was to fix all the things I do wrong. Now I'm going to work on doing some other things right.
The Big Apple Open looked good for foilists, but you couldn't tell by me. I'll ask the fencer from our club who did the foil, if I see him.

| Learn to coach fencers into competing to the best of their abilities. Technique and knowledge are important, but they're nothing without being able to fight. |

| • I'd like to try and fix at least -some- of those constant problems.
• Go to more competitions.
• Cross-Train!!!!!
• Be able to do a proper 55. (five steps back, five forward, three back, step lunge) and not a double step lunge!
•*Take more fencing photos!
----- Yay! Post #100!

Also set up minions in key political positions to steal world from greenchick after she takes care of the petty governments of today. VIVA LA REVALUCION!

| actually just to fence well and have fun and ..really, have fun!! i want to fence and develop a competitive edge. I will fight for every single touch; never quit.
if i fence to my ability and not tank out i WILL have all top 10 finishes. recent 3rd place is good motivation. and, of course, earning higher letter grades. i'm just going to fence and see what happens. i think i have a C in me in epee, deep down. i hope i'll have enough money for the traveling though... <----cool face. |
