Hello everyone. This thread is a bit frivolous I admit, and largely a vehicle for me to go OT as much as I like without actually being OT, if you see what I mean, but I just wanted you all to know that I've just scored a bad reputation mark for my comments in the Queen thread from someone who says I am "stupod".
Need I say more?!

Anyway, how is everybody? I'm fine, thanks for asking! A little mournful as fencing has finished for the summer at my club, but I fenced not too badly in the novice end of year competition, and learnt an exciting new parry (neuvieme) in my last class. The sun is shining and life is good. I hope everyone else is having a nice day too; if not, feel free to rant here!

I got dinged for stating that I consider myself a moderate--in a thread that specifically asked posters to identify their political positions. Luckily, Craig has disabled the Negative reputation option for all but himself and the two moderators. Hopefully this will enable it to be used to hunt down trolls instead of discouraging honesty.

Oh. A "stupod" is a small space transport used to take one's lunch (stew) in. Also, a type of nourishing vegetable (like a peapod) which can be stewed and then transported in a stupod. I thought everyone knew that.

As an englishwoman, I'm going to have to insist on a british pronunciation. So the stress is on the first syllable - STU-pod - plus, the first syllable is pronounced "styoo" not "stoo". Any jawa would agree.

From a semantic point of few, perhaps a "stupod" is a rural peasant dish, a hearty but economical pottage of now-empty pea casings, made with the leftovers once the peas themselves have been sold to rich barons to pay a tax to the nobility (who probably only wield such power becuase some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at them). Boiled for sveral hours over a woodfire. With some added pig fat and wild garlic.
