Glove fit I've always had the problem that there is extra material at the bottom of my glove, and it proves deadly since I fence epee.
I usually buy a large glove, since my hand is big.
Should I buy a size lower, and allow it to stretch? Or wash my current glove and dry it to shrink it? JsPierre

Array It depends on the glove and how much your hand sweats.
The washables seem to shrink less than the leather ones.
My current one (Uhlmann washable) doesn't shrink much, since my hand, unlike the rest of me, sweats very little. My glove, even after repeated washings, is slightly loose.
My son, with eternallly sweaty hands, has a glove (washable Allstar) which, appropriately enough, fits like a glove, having "sweat molded" to his hand.
A while back, I tried shrinking my slightly large, but very comfy, Prieur épée glove. I overdid it and it is now a dog chew toy, so be careful with the leather ones.

Measure your hand and buy a glove that is sold by glove size and not Small, medium, large.

Array Another option is you could have someone custom make a special glove for you. I know in the SCA theres a lot of folks who make leather boots and gloves and such to whatever designs you would like. It would be a little pricy, but probably made a lot better and hold up longer than the standard ones you could get if you found someone good at it.
