    Fencing in Movie

Just rented a movie called "Sunshine". It's about a 3 hour movie that follows 3 generations of a family in Hungary from around 1900s thru 1950s. Ralph Fiennes stars as the grandfather/father/son. The "second generation" follows the father as he becomes national fencing champion (sabre) and Olympic fencing champion in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. The whole second part revolves around fencing. It's great! Overall the movie was interesting. Check it out.

dont know if i ve seen it, but many movies r weird while showing fencing (when u have a fencer eye). "Par l epee" (=by the sword ?) is full of mistakes ... and some fights r strange while showing fencing as a sport ...

anyway if u say so, i ll try to watch this one.

if u want great "sword fighting" in the "d'artagnant", "3 mousquetaires" way check out the french movie "Le Bossu" with "fabrice luchini, daniel auteuil and marie gilain" thats really a great adventure film in costume with great "1 vs all" bout (with rapiers !!! magnificent swords ! i love them ...)

    ciao.

It's a great film, but an emotional roller-coaster. I was drained after seeing it

You might wanna try on www.amazon.fr
    • Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
    • To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial
