[CFML] RE: Origin of the double-wide epee Hello,
The double-wide epee is a modern invention (as in, very modern). I believe
it was created in order to make a weapon that more closely simulates a
rapier or smallsword, and is better able to withstand blows that an epee
wasn't made to withstand.
They're a good deal for the cost, but schlaegers are more accurate in terms
of weight. The double-wide epee does have the taper towards the tip that a
rapier or smallsword would have, however, whereas the schlaeger doesn't.
Take care,
Domenico
