Array Ampidextrous? Anyone out there able to fence with either hand? I'm just being curious.
Just fenced an open air friendly (3 weapon mixed medley) and the only foil I could find was a right handed french grip (I'm left handed BTW). Consequently I fought the best I could (you can use a right handled french in your left but you lose a lot of control). Unsurprisingly I lost - put on a good show though.
I can use my right hand but I'm merely competent, it hadn't been sore I would've fenced using my right. So I was wondering who out there can fence with their other hand? Anyone fully ampidextrous? Anyone else been in a similair situation? -
ampidextrous? No but I have a lizard that can sing the blues. -
Bill Hoskyns (Great Britain) won a number of world championship/Olympic medals in both foil and epee (in the 50s or 60s). I believe that he fenced foil with one hand and epee with the other: that is definitely ambidextrous to a successful degree...

As has no doubt been said many times before,
"I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous..."

I've tried something similar. I was taking a foil class in the early 90s and broke my right hand playing soccer. I tried fencing lefty for about 2 months and only won a single bout. Not an easy task (for me) to say the least.
