There has been a lot of confusion as to whether or not UFSA/FIE events allow
the wrist strap. However, my understanding before I left the USFA was that
it is legal to use the wrist strap. I attended a UFSA event where one was
used by an older fencer without penalty. One rarely sees them these days.
Maybe Brian or Jeff know the current status.

Dear All-re the use of italian foils-do those who use
them, also use the wrist strap with pocket for the
pommel? In the '60's Maestro Oskar Kalombatovitch
taught me to use the wrist strap but i understand they
are no longer allowed. Does this not take much
strength away from the Italian method? Ray Smith
