This is the same problem I ran into four years ago when I began searching
for someone to make classical sabre blades. I had no luck with any of the
blade makers in Solingen either. All these folks want volume and we can't
give that in the CF community. I was finally able to achieve good results
with the small armories and smiths, most notably Popinjays, so I would
recommend you go that route too. They are interested in small runs and tend
to put in the love and care necessary to make a good blade.

For all our sakes I hope you are successful!

Subject: Re: Classical foil blades

Dear All,

Neville is absolutely correct in that well made classical foil blades
should
be a consideration today.

Initial enquiries however do not seem promising.

The following is from Leon Paul with word from Solingen pending......

I am afraid that this would be a massive undertaking. Months or even years
of
research go into the development of a new blade. I am afraid we wouldn't
develop a blade with projected volumes of less than 5000 per anum and I fear
that
the volumes you are talking about are much lower than this.

I am sorry that we aren't able to help.

Kind regards,

Yours Very Truly,

Macdonald
