Ok, I've read the rules and some posts here, but I am still very confused as to WHAT this forum is, so I am going to make some assumptions and someone can tell me if I'm wrong. I assume that this forum is:
A Role Play that centers around renaissance times with fantasy
Freeform and containing very little rules at all
Lacking a GM and a structured story
Lacking any real starting out rules
(I ask because if it is what I think it is, I might possibly be interresting in starting here for fun)
And the Moderator speaks - to the best of her ability!

Hey - least you are checking before you dive face first into the confusion of our world!!! We like people like you!!!!

sort of. We have a Kingdom, that sees alot of sword fighting (you missed the unfinished tourney to find a new king - curtailed by the fact we found the King on an island and had a small explosion at the competition venue). I dont think we have ever really discussed exactly WHAT time period Arconia is set in. It just kind of 'evolved'. Fantasy is a big part of this world. I dont know if you would call what we do traditional role play - more like big junks of collaborative writing.

There are rules. See posting guidelines - which I think you already have. There is no real style but we seem to have gradually drifted to the third person.

I am not sure what a GM is. If you mean Games Master the closest we come is me - the moderator. I try to keep certain parties from killing each other ::ahem:: and settle various writing disagreements (ie 2 people posting at the same time with the same characters). As for structured story, we generally get togehter about once a week (time zones permitting) and have a right royal barney on where the story is going. Which generally results is a couple of pages worth of posting.

Oh there are starting out rules. 1. Pick a character. 2. post its history. 3. Tell us where you think they fit. 4. Work out a way to get them there and 5. Start writing!!!

Hey the more the merrier. (Rosie no comments about new blood until he posts!). If you have any more questions, please dont hesitate to ask. I will try to find some of our history threads and bump them up for you.

Well, Its unstructured compared to anything I've seen before (Which I like, BTW). I think I'll write up an introduction after rafting tomorrow. Looking foreward to being here.
This is NOT your traditional role play (referring to your mention of a GM). It's actually a group of people who are, really, writing a story together. We plan on getting it published (well, broken down into what may very well be several books). One of our most important rules is RESPECT. Respect for the characters and the writers. Communication is incredibly important.
And I resemble that remark about keeping certain parties from killing one another. The Swordsman & I haven't argued in, what, two weeks? Tickle fest with biting & scratching...but no arguing!

Welcome aboard Hunter!!!

uh...Rosie? We're still missing a couple of people. They should be back by next weekend. Just in time for me to make several disappearing acts between now & October (director says, "it's about to get grueling.")

I don't know where else to put this, so I'll just post here. My question is this: have the good people of Arconia developed some sort of firearm as of yet? Blackpowder or flintlock, I mean, not modern day weaponry. When I first created Salazar a couple of years ago, he used a flintlock pistol, and I've been thinking of bringing it back if it fits in with the relative time period in Arconia.
nope, thus far it has strictly been swords, daggers, bows, sticks, and fists. With one insident of a black powder like substance but it's jsut breifly skimmed.
