Okay, yeah, back when, I had heard about it conversationally by people that may or may not be f.net members, but I got here looking for equipment info.
I have been lurking for a while, but I finally got around to registering so I can add my tuppence.

One of the VERY few people who's been here longer than I have (just passed my 6-year anniversary last week). You have me beat by a couple of months. And Craig's 3 months longer than that.
That said, I have no clue now how I found the board.

Heard it from my coach.
Amazing how common google has become though, I can remember what it was like before google.

I signed up on this site a long time ago (2003), then forgot I had an account. Lots of people have been talking about it lately, so I decided to sign up...again.
Typed in "Epee training" on Google.
My ten year old son has expressed an interest in trying this sport (he has been watching the sword fights in the movie "Troy"). I'm not sure he will follow through on this, since Pop Warner football practice is five days a week beginning August 1, but to give him some exposure to see if he likes it, does anybody know of a club or a trainer/coach in San Diego? Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

You'd be better doing a formal introduction, or look elsewhere on the site (I'm not American, so can't be bothered looking) to find info on clubs in your area.

I'm not sure he will follow through, since Pop Warner football practice will start August 1st (five days a week) and the regular season lasts into November, but in order for him to get some exposure to foil or epee, does anyone know of a club or a coach/trainer in the San Diego area? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Thanks also to member "D'Art" who suggested that I post this here - it was originally posted under the thread "How did you find Fencing.Net" where it was unlikely to reach a broad audience.
P.S. I found the site through Google.
I did a google search for fencing formums, this site is what poked out at me.
So I guess introductions are in order, Hello to all, I am the Countess of Monueax of France. I only started fencing this year, however my interest in fencing has been intact for most of my life.
By the way just kidding about the Countess thing, I had to break the ice some how.
My sister is a WS fencer and she goes to these tournaments everywhere, right? Well, occaisionally this site has updates faster than she can call us about her results.
I searched google for "summer nationals fencing" and found the forum.
Sometimes results are on here, sometimes not. The fencing websites are really slow at updating results, so I try everything.
Found your site thur yahoo. i am new to fencing and im tring to get hooked up with our local Society here in Springfield MO. thanks for a fantastic site, im learning already an havent stepped on a strip yet.
whenever we'd get into some rules discussion at club one of the coaches would at some point in the conversation talk about someone's post on fencing.net so for quite awhile i just skulked around on here without joining so that i could read all the rules debates. and then i joined.
I've been on here over a year, but I just realized I never posted in here.
I found this site while looking for equipment dealers online. I saw a link to the forums in the shop. I lurked for a while then officially joined last march (I didn't start actually fencing until August. I did have several fencer friends and was interested in the sport). I've been here ever since.
