My daughters and I have been fencing a the Boeing fencing club for about 2 years. When we asked about fencing clubs in Ingolstadt, another club member sugested this site.
news about the World Championships. Somehow I stumbled into this posting-thing. I found one article about who did what but it seems not to be exacting what I was looking for. Is there a straight NEWS site about fencing somewhere? -- with, like, commentary and analysis of the bouts?
Lets see, where shall I begin.......I started Foil Fencing in High School. All of my friends were on some kind of team, and they all wore their famed White Satin Team Jacket (No one can wear a White Satin Jacket EXCEPT Team Members). So you know what that means, I had to wear one to. So I tried out this weird sport of Fencing. I went to the fencing gym, and soon fell in love with the yin yang of Fencing. I went on to college, and had the great Michel Alaux and Julia Jones as a Fencing Coaches in NYC(72-76). I realized that high school fencing could not compare with 'real fencing' on the collegiate level. I went from MIP(Most Improved Player) to MVP(Most Valuable Player), and then to become Captain of the Team in my senior year. I even became a "C-Rated Fencer in Epee". Now, my son (16) is starting to fence in high school (Hmmm sounds familar) and wearing my old equipment...... So I started looking up fencing websites to update his equipment......and this is how I found you guys...........Thanks for the fond memories I have for Fencing.......
pretty much just that people at my club are always taking about it. Kinda makes you feel out of the loop. But is cool to see what everyone has on their minds about fencing.
I found Fencing.net on a Google search, where it came in #1 for "fencing" and "fencing RSS feeds". Not a surprise, you've got lots o' backlinks. I found it while trolling for RSS feeds for my club's website (in the siggy below); now all I've got to do is find RSS that includes both American and international competition results.
Our club is only 7 weeks old and we're growing like crazy. Sabreists, Epeeists, and Foilists. Me, I've been fencing foil for 20 years, but my son is competitive Sabre.
See ya,
J.
I think all fencers eventually find it. Must be one of them strange 'rite of passage' thingies like the ones you see in coming of age films....
That, or like Dilbert, I was bored at the office and started looking for fencing stuff, and found the site...

I think I found Fencing.net trying to know how to take care of a lamé. Now I 've got my own (foil), when I'm finished I turn it over, let it aside for a few minutes, then roll it and put it in the pocket of my bag, where there's no sweaty uniform or weapon. At home I hang it in my cupboard. Am I doing right?
Next operation will be to wash it, but I think I've got plenty of time before that.
(And I must say I registered because I wanted to see the pics. And there was Sylvia! ^^)
