The last time I fenced regularly was in High School in Garden City, NY. And that was in 1978...
But I am interested in restarting Fencing in my life and so I am looking forward to starting a FENCING CLUB in my sons school this year. But I admit (though a little daunted) that I am a little behind the curve (okay - okay a LOT - LOL).
I need (if anyone can help):
1) LI Schools still fencing
2) Clubs & Groups active on LI
3) Coaches who are interested in new students
4) Places to purchase equipment on Long Island
5) Used equipment that is either FREE or LOW COST so we can get started
Was searching for a site on fencing(mainly general info about the sport) and was happy that this one came up on the search engine. It's so comprehensive!
I am looking to relocate to GA and my family and I were interested in taking fencing, but we won't be able to take it before we leave from CT. Anyway I just googled fencing in GA and this website came up first.
Well, my name is Nickolas D. Patino.
I am a 19 year old male from Santa Rosa, CA
I first got into fencing about 3 years ago and have since become my Maestro's assistant at the local community college. My favorite of the three weapons is sabre (much to the dismay of many).
One of my goals in life is to find an occupation which i can relate to fencing.
This may include becoming a coach, moving to somewhere in need of a vendor, going into stage combat, or simply becoming a P.E. teacher at a school with a fencing program.
If you havge any ideas or contacts you think might help me, be sure to send me a message.
I was looking for fencing gears through google and found this forum. For intro, I live in new jersey, 10 min to NY.. new to fencing (a month), and I wish I can learn as much as possible by may 2009 since I am planning to move out of the country.
Haha... I google for other things and this place still turns up!
Welcome

I was googling for fencing forums, or fencing discussion board, or something like that.
Since I just signed up for my first class, I wanted to find somewhere I could read about what others have gone through, and what I should expect.
I was reading F-net for 5 years... not regularly.
Tried to open some pictures in the forum and couldn't do it without registration, so I decided to join.
I was looking for the times for a fencing tournament here in SD on April 19th and came across it that way, however, I am yet unable to find the time of the tournament. Can anyone help here and thanks! Kim
I am new to this site and I saw the link on askfred. My son has been fencing a couple of years, and I wish I had seen it sooner. I have learned a lot since I have been lurking around in here. My only complaint is this has become a giant time-suck for me!! I spend far too long reading the various threads!!
I was looking for a reliable source of fencing information and fencing.net was he first thing to come up. I have had some lessons, but generally it has been private study with friends, I was looking for more information and more people to talk to about fencing. I love the wealth of information on the site.
I came upon this site by checking some information on Ralph Faulkner. For some of the younger members, Faulkner served as a double for Ronald Coleman and (Ithink) Basil Rathbone in some of the early black and white movies. He looked quite a bit like Coleman. I used to take lessons at his salle in the 50s, right after high school. I was never on his team but I have always loved fencing. I was on a rag-tag college team. I took a few lessons at the Vince salle when it was on Vermont Boulevard in Los Angeles...It's just good to learn about all that is going on these days.
