Wouldn't this be fun? Wouldn't it be fun if you could have like a 5 on 5 or a 7 people ffa or something like that in a tournament or even practice? Is there an event like this, or a league that does anything like this? P.S. My AOL screen name is Holy Kiwi DMc Send me a message sometime -

Array Try the Society for Creative Anacronism. With electric fencing, it would never work. Consider all the reels and wires that would be going everywhere. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array Actually, there is a game that is often played in kids summer camps called war, that is basically group vs. group.
Although, I've never seen it played anywhere except at summer camps for 8-12 year olds... We're no threat, people, we're not dirty, we're not mean
We love everybody but we do as we please
When the weather's fine,
We go fishin' or go swimmin' in the sea
We're always happy
Life's for livin', yeah, that's our philosophy -
You could put spring loaded paint or something, so when the sword bends it shoots out paint... which would get on the opponents cloths... but ther'd only be 1 shot =( hmm maybe you could keep spare swords on your back or in a belt or something. Yeah...
Everyone gets 5 swords, no flicks aloud. When you get paint on your uniform (washable) your out. Everyone is placed in a circular arena with a 50 foot diameter... Sounds fun eh? P.S. My AOL screen name is Holy Kiwi DMc Send me a message sometime -

Array you think everything should be held in your town, don't you?
Naw, I'd prefer the honesty thing myself. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Actualy i'm trying to get a hold of fencerjim... P.S. My AOL screen name is Holy Kiwi DMc Send me a message sometime -
Heh, I remember doing that in my beginning days of fencing. Our teacher would just put us in 2 groups of four and hell would break loose. Those were the days.
Of course, not that fencing isn't fun anymore. "Computers in the future may have only 1, 000 vacuum tubes and perhaps only weigh 1 1/2 tons."

Never thought I'd hear a 15 year old say "those were the days".
Could make almost anyone feel really old. -

Array Ahh, the innocense of the young new fencer. Wacker you can bang away with as many fencers as you want...only with your OWN EQUIPMENT! ALso, I've read some of your other posts..please try using the glossary of fencing terms I've given to you, the stomping thingy you refer to is called an appel,HA. I'm glad to see you've joined fencing.net, you will be able to learn a lot about fencing from the people who post here. I'll see you at next class. Your doing great.

Array well, you've got the wrong weapon for what you propose. Foil was a training weapon for single civilian combat. Epee and saber were also single civilian combat. What you propose as FFA is more SCA style, and you would need a weapon better suited to that. -

Sadly, I've been saying "back in my prime" for about 3 or 4 years. I am 21. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

We are doing something like that in our school's fencing team pratice sometimes. We are divided into 2 groups, usually 10 on 10. There's a line in the middle, and your back foot can't cross it, once u cross it, u r out. And u can hit anyone on the opposite team. If you get hit on target, then u r out. And we fence until either team has no one left out there to fence, meaning everyone on the team got out. My coach call it the battle royal, <img src="graemlins/evild.gif" border="0" alt="[Evil]" /> !@#$% Evil Devil fencer %$#@! -

Array I use "back in the day" on a semi-regular basis and I'm only 22... I wonder what I'll be like when I'm 70+ "Damned kids these days and them new-fangled extension hyper semi-holo teleblades" "Back in my day we used steel and wires, weren't nothing wrong with that was there Earl?" *looks at Earl* "Damned right, kids these day got no 'preciation for real fencin'" Methix
"We have enough Youth, how about a fountain of Smart?" -
We've been thinking about a safe way to do something like this, if that's possible. This line you can't cross is in front of you, then? So you can't go too far forward and get a shot at an opponent's back? So people can just hang back way behind the line and be safe from the other team? Or an I misinterpreting the setup?
I'm imagining a line of ten fencers, standing shoulder to shoulder facing the opposite team on the other side of the boundary line.
