Yeah, that's about what I thought. There are a good number A's and B's who are older than the junior fencers but i don't think a whole lot more, because we have only fairly recently gotten ANY events at which you could earn an A. A number of those older fencers are getting more into coaching while others will self-select themselves out of the competition, but there are quite a number who are still in contention for World Teams. I guess what I'm saying is that in WS the only A's and B's likely to compete in the NACs if the new rule is in effect are going to be people who are seriously trying to make a world team.

Which is I guess the point of raising the level, isn't it?

However, it will definitely make for small events, as if WS weren't small enough already.

This leaves people like me out of national competitions to go to unless we're seriously nuts, but I guess I'm wacko enough. I'm not quite ready to resign myself to attending only veteran events, so I guess I'll keep my hand in by entering the Div I's, but it's going to be weeeeird.

We had talked about it in the salle, but I hadn't seen the actual text yet.

    Hi all,
Actually, despite what the report appended to the agenda had, the actual report approved at the BOD meeting had the Div I requirements amended to include A, B, and C level fencers. So not quite as severe as what we've been discussing. Now makes the top 8 of a div II level event method a tad redundant. Not sure if there were additional modifications, go check with your section reps on the BOD, it's their job to get that info out to people.

Ah-ha! At last! Some actual news, though you're right, it doesn't actually make things *less* complicated . . . Thanks.
