| been meaning to get our patch on here for a while... http://www.uaf.edu/fencing/alaskafencing/clubs.htm
this link goes to the Alaska division website where you can see all the club patches if you like. We in Kodiak had a project to design the patch. Since none of them totally worked for me I took the submitted ideas down to the local T-Shirt and Embroidery shop and we jointly designed the one you see here for Emerald Isle Fencing. Not really cheap though... $75 set up fee and $11 per patch. But I'm happy with them.

| One of the more eclectic ones in our area is the hedgehog patch used by the Brooklyn Fencing Center |

| That thing is freakin' sweet!
(I think I've seen it before, but I never recognized it as a hedgehog.)
I should make an "unattached" club patch. Not because I am, but simply because it would be funny. |

| Hey,
There are some really cool designs around in this thread. Our club has a logo - we have it on our tracksuits and t-shirts, etc - but we don't have patches...
Where do you guys get 'em made, how much do they cost, do you give them to your members or sell them..?
Any info'd be much appreciated, thanks |

| Coastal Carolina Fencing Association This is our logo. We haven't made patches yet, although some have used an ink jet printer and some iron-on transfers to make their own T-shirts.

| Coming soon :) Woooooooooooooooooo, we've never had a proper patch to sew onto your jacket before, but at last they're getting made and should hopefully arrive on Monday... I can't wait!
It's very simple, just the RFC logo on a white background... |

| Regarding club patches-When a fencer moves from one club to another is it proper to remove the old patch and apply the new club's patch? I've seen some fencers still wear the old and the new. When the old coach saw this he was ticked and wanted his patch removed. |

| I will provide a photo in a separate post, but I wanted to echo the problem of getting an agreement. We have a patch, a letterhead which was the original design 8 years ago, and then a new design that is embroidered on the back of our club jackets. Our letterhead is also for our web site (below). I think it needs to be freshened up but I like it. Actually, all three are OK, but it's stupid to have all these differences from a marketing perspective. Eventually (who knows when that will be), I will try to get them the same. http://www.fencingclub.org Quote: |

We have 2 logos, one that is used on jackets as the competition club patch and the second "fencing letters" logo will be used on tha back of warmups.
Good luck. | |

I know that, once I've sewn on a club patch, I don't want to go to the bother to remove it to replace it with a new one--much easier to just sew the new one above/below/next to the old one.
Also, I like the idea of carrying a physical history of my fencing life on my sleeve.
But...there are some clubs where it's frowned upon to wear any identifying patch other than the current club. It's all in the "corporate culture" of the club. In addition, there is the case such as you describe where the old club no longer wants you to wear their patch, which is understandable since you are no longer representing them.
If it's okay with both the old and the new club, I don't see any problem with wearing both.

| Here's a patch from the South Coast Fencing Center in Orange County, California.
FYI -- they've got a Youth Invitational coming up next weekend. http://www.southcoastfencing.com/invitational2005.html |

My spontanious answer would be "Yes, you should remove your old club patch".
Although I have heard of some people attending more than one club (even having more than one club to choose between is an unknown luxury to me! ), surely you can only compete for one club?
I'm just asking because I am curious if there are other rules in the US/Canada. Here in Sweden you can only compete for one and the same club per year - unless both clubs and the Swedish Fencing Federation gives the fencer consent to change during 'mid-term'.
Surely this problem will not occur if you are a recreational fencer only, I am just curious what your rules are (if there are any)?

I believe "affiliation" is supposed to be treated the same as "representation" for things such as seeding.
I joined a second club this year (which is an aberration in this division), and have been wearing two patches since. There was some debate in my division as to whether this is legal or not, but I contacted the USFA, resolved the issue, and kept my patches.
The funny thing was neither of my clubs really objected to the idea, but rather a third club which I have no affiliation whatsoever with. |
