| Hi all! Well I just registered with the site. I'm an American fencer in Miami, Florida, and I'm still pretty green. I've been training with a foil for 3 or 4 months now, and each day I improve. I'm starting to get very interested in the sport, so I thought I'd give fencing.net a shot. I hope to get to know the community here, and to have some fun and improve my game. |

I was born down in Homestead, Fl (just south of Miami, know the place?) and I just thought I'd let you know.

| Onesandzeros: I fence at the Miami Fencing Club, it's hosted at a middle school in south Miami.
Demthenes: Sure, I've been to Homestead plenty of times. Glad to see another newbie like myself.
Glad to know there's a nice community going on. Fencing isn't unpopular per say around where I live but it is unknown. I'm surprised by how many people I've spoken to that have said they always wanted to learn how to fence but never bothered checking out any places to learn. Human nature, I guess. |

Meaning they won't go with me to fence, ever.

| Hey Zeta, welcome to the board.
And I'm all of the mind that it doesn't matter how long you've been fencing. |

| Hi, everyone.
Long time lurker, first time poster. I thought I would say hello before starting to post my questions, whose answers probably lurk somewhere in the forum archives. I will try to search them before posting repetitive topics.
Just in case anyone wants to know, I am an epee fencer in Chicago and occasionally serve as a scratch armorer for the club I belong to. I'm not much into arguing on forums, so I'll probably skip tthe flame wars, and the rest of my ignorance will be revealed in the due course of time. Though this site has been helpful in getting rid of a lot of it.
Anyway, I'm off to search forum archives now. |

| Hey Zeta!
Well, I'd like to introduce myself aswell here. I live and fence in Germany in a small town called Sinzig, not far from world famous Koblenz, where the world champion Peter Joppich fences. I've even been able to fence against him.....in fact,.....i lost.
I have been fencing now for about ten years (I'm 16), yet in the past few years (2 or 3) I stopped going to competitions and have gotten quite bad at fencing. I won the state championship in Koblenz twice and it is my current goal at the moment to win it a third time. Thus, i have just recently odered my new foil, new shoes and other stuff at allstar.de . Why do I mention that? because I noticed the grave difference between the prices of fencing equipment in Germany and in the U.S. Germany seems so much more cheaper when it comes to fencing equipment. I found fencing.net through google and find this the best page about fencing. I especially enjoy the Drills-Section and I'm working on my poor technic at the moment. Eventhough I'm half-american, my English isn't too good, so please correct me when I make really stupid mistakes.
Thanks! |

Thanks! | Stylothek, you may have noticed that being full-American doesn't help people from making really stupid mistakes

| TheOne -- I was just reading a post in the introduction section and I came along yours and noticed something really interesting... www.homestarrunner.com! I have been going to that website for some time now but I didn't think that anybody else really knew about the website. So it was pretty surprising to see cheat as your picture thing! Anyway, just wanted to say that I love the website!
