    NYAC open June 27

Metrodivision.com says there's a June 27 Epee open at the New York Athletic Club. I'm thinking of going, but the NYAC website has zero info about it. Is it still on? Anyone compete there before -- what's the routine?

(Posted this originally on this site's NY clubs forum, but it seems I'm the only one who's used that forum so far.)

I didn't say nobody saw it, just meant that mine was the only thing yet posted on that whole board. And of course I don't expect many replies, since it's a local event and most board members aren't in this area.

But again, if anyone out there DOES have an answer, I'd be grateful.

Wait, wait, wait... you're expecting organization from an NYAC Sunday Epee tournament? HAHAHAHA

I'm sorry, I expected something a little more the first time I went, but I was forewarned - this event isn't exactly structured. It usually starts sometime around on time, people show up about 10 min before registration (hopefully including the person who's running the tournament). It's not unusual for it to be put off for a little to let somebody who's late come (well, as long as it's the right person that's late).

It's nice and laid back in terms of structure, you come and walk in the back entrance to the AC, walk down a couple flight sof stairs, through a laundry room and then there's the fencing room. If you get there more than 30 min early then the lights will probably all off, and if I decide to go I'll be sleeping on the couch because of the train schedule.

It's relaxed, but there's some good fencing there (now if only i were back in shape) - a lot depends on who decides to wake up that morning/stay out too late the night before, it seems.

Once upon a time, males had to wear a jacket and tie, females a skirt to get into the NYAC for fencing competitions (A real PITA, btw) I assume those rules have long since been removed, right?

Ahh, yes, this is all once upon a time, at least for us riff-raff, afterall, they do shunt us in the back door.
