(sorry about the ranting, trying to keep a little dignity for my state and fencing in it) Not a bogus complaint. BUT you do have a valid point. -
Does anyone have a definite schedule? -

Array One of the things that I lvoe is that the tentative schedule released in July generally still has TBA for March and April despite the fact that the approved budget has tentative locations for these evetns (this is true this year, was last year, and I suspect is an annual occurance). Given that ALL of the locations are still subject to change, you'd think the USFA would give information to the best of their ability for all of the events.
For reference the lcoations used for budgeting were Fresno, CA and Reno, NV.
When planning be especially careful of the April date, avoiding passover (which may or may not be possible) could easily cause that one in particular to change.
This year expect daily schedules to be released much earlier, including approximate start times (very approximate, basically whether it'll be before 10am or after). These should be released for the full season by early September.

Array Oh, my god. To be able to plan a day off and buy an airplane ticket AHEAD of time? I can die now. -
ugh
a nac is in reasonable driving distance and i'm finally out of div2 range

Does anyone know why there are no longer 2 Cadet and 2 Junior NAC's? I was told that this years change to 1 each was because of the Olympics, but this looks more permanent. At first I was thinking that JO's counted as a NAC, but since you have to qualify, it's not the same. -

Array If it weren't for the fact that we only have one serious fencing club, I would think Savannah would be a great place to have a NAC. We have like four huge hotels all within walking distance of a venue larger than the place they had in Charlotte. We have an international airport. The Civic Center is in historic downtown (meaning that part of the city is designed for walking around). Anyone who's ever been to St Patrick's Day here knows how fun the city can be. Our only problem would be that we don't have a large club. We would have to have help from our Division (unfortunately they mostly don't leave Atlanta). -

Array Why do you think you need a large body of fencers there? Look at Palms Springs. It does not have a convenient airport for the rest of the country, it doesn't have a lot of fencers. There is just one very small club and they are not involved with the tournament. What it does have is Warm Weather in January, not local involvement.
If you think it will be a good area, let the USFA know and let them know, there is no local help. There is no requirement for local help. There are incentives the USFA gives for local equipment and help, but it is not required. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com

It does seem odd that there is only one cadet /Junior Nac when there are 2 Y14s, veterans, and Div 2 NACS. I can see why there are 2 Div 1 NACs but why short change the others? It looks like the RYC will still replace one of the youth NACs. -

Array There is the Junior World Cup "A" in Louisville, KY, which is equivalent to a Junior/Cadet NAC. That would be the "NAC" to take care of the missing Jr/Cadet NAC. I believe you must have national points or something to enter, although that could have changed. -

Array Hmmm...looks as though my NAC schedule may be rather thin this year, what with all those distant cross-country ones and the restricted eligibilities. I'll be pulling for that TBA one to be west of the Mississippi, if not the Rockies...
Oh, well, it could be worse---I escaped getting a B by the narrowest of possible margins this year. Then I'd REALLY be limited... -
If the Junior Louisville World Cup is to replace a Cadet/Jr NAC does that mean that Cadets are eligible for it? If the eligibility is limited to point holders then it really doesn't replace a NAC that would be open to everyone in the age group. -
I checked on the Junior Cup, and you definitely have to be on the register to attend. I believe that you can attend if you're on the top 8 or 16 of the Cadet register, but that's a moot point, since those folks are usually on the Junior register as well. -

Array I forget: Is the bid packet information for a NAC available online, or is it something the USFA folks have to physically mail to you? -

You must request it and it is mailed. I am not sure if it would go to an indivdual. Contact Christine Simmons at the national office. She would be the one who would know for sure.
