Interestingly enough, when I registered way back when (april 2000) i registered as 'foilist', and back then we had the option of displaying a different name than our login name, and I chose to display "DJ Apostrophe". When craig did one of the upgrades... it changed my username from foilist to DJ Apostrophe... and that became available again.
It was just odd so I thought I'd share.

Great fencers show up and fence. Would suck to show up at the USFA Summer Nationals and get beaten on your way to the Olympics, hunh? |

Actually that makes good sense. Why go all the way to Charlotte, expose yourself to all those germs to win a junior Competition when it is pretty much the only event you can fence?
She doesn't need the points. It doesn't do any good and she would still run those risks of injuries. If Division 1 was part of Summer Nationals I am sure she would be there.
Mariel is going to Cuba with Army!! Behave Army!!
That is the weekend before Summer Nats. She is spending her time wisely. That is how elite fencers should be training.
GO MARIEL!!!!

| it's kind of like running track. . . When you race (or compete) you're not training. Mariel needs to be training very hard and she can use her time better than winning a junior event.

| Maybe a little, but he is a solid A with high level international fencing under his belt who came in #1 at our sectional qualifier. That and.. I don't really know a lot of A's outside of our area. Quote: |

| You meant "fame". But error is understandable in a foilist. |

Can someone close this thread in favor of a more recent one?
