Grand Prix Seeding

I was looking at it, how exactly does it work? the top 16 fencers didnt need to fence yesterday? so they top finisher yesterday would be seeded 17th to start today?

The top 16 fencers entering the tournament are atumatically the 1-16 seeds in the second day of DE's and don't fence at all the first day.

Everyone else fences in pools.

The top 16 from the pools are advanced to the second day and are seeds 17-32. The bottom 20% are cut and sent home after pools.

The rest are seeded into a DE tableau which is run down to the final 32. These 32 are then seeded 33-64 in the second day DE.

The top 16 people never fence anything but DE bouts.

FIE points go to everyone who makes the second day.
