Here's another interesting poll to coattail onto my last. How many sources do you use?

kind of depends on how you define news blog-ish type webpages. do i consider something like slashdot.org one source? or do i count all of the sources that it draws its news from? (either way, i'm 6+)

Hi!

Minor problem: I do not see any poll attached to this thread start. my answer:

National papers: 1 steady, 2 off-and-on (the steady one being the one furthest from my own political beliefs, go figure)

National TV news channel: previously often, now very seldom

Regional TV news: never

Local newspapers: once a week, when the publish the TV schedule (it is better than the one put out by the national papers, the only count on which it excels)

Misc. web news: several times a week

Have a nice time!

Something is messed up. Hmmm.

But I would count blogs collectively as one source.

Yes, I'd say I use quite a few news sources regularly. There's CNN (cable TV broadcast), CBC Newsworld (cable TV broadcast), CNN.com, CBC.ca, CBC radio broadcast (but this one's in French when I hear it so it's not THAT understandable for me!), BBC World News, Netscape News, at least one newspaper on the weekend, Harper's Magazine every month, and, of course, fencing.net for fencing news. (Oh, and fencing.ca for Cdn fencing news)

I use whatever news sources are available; radio, t.v., magazines, friends, email, blogs, newspapers. I find that to get the full story, you need multiple perspectives. Of course, there are a few things I only want to know one side of simply because the other side is shoveling loads of worthless tripe...

What is a "source?"

I'd like to see a definition of a source in here. Many people think that they are listening or reading different media sources, but if one looks closely at the original "source" of the information, they are all based on a single news wire agency such as AP or AFP (Agency French Press - I can't spell this the french way). This is true of all news providers. Be sure to look closely at the byline. NPR, the New York Times, CNN, they all use AP as a source.

My news sources?

On a daily basis, I read (online only):

Wall Street Journal
New York Times
Washington Post
CNN
BBC

Every few days I'll check out:

USA Today
Arab News
NY Daily News
The Onion

I'd watch TV news, but I'm too busy watching cartoons instead.

Rush Limbaugh, SNL, Mad TV and the onion. If my news is gonna be real, I want it biased first!

NPR and Fox News with a little NBC thrown in. I want all sides of the spectrum (and even then I'm cynical).

Um, flagrant da nut, it was a joke. I'm occaisionally annoyed with DHP as well, but...it was a joke. I thought it was funny.

P.S. DHP, get a new moniker, and don't put 13 in the age. Then make passive, thoughtful posts so people will respect you. Then you won't have horribile reputation.
